Why When How

00353 87 973 4427 |
|

When calling the United Kingdom (Channel Islands, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) when outside the U.K. or not using a U.K. mobile phone, you must add +44 at the begining of the number or 0044.
When calling the Republic of Ireland when outside the Republic of Ireland or not using an Irish mobile phone, you must add +353 at the begining of the number or 00353.
So if you want to call 0879734427, you must phone +3530879734427 or if you don't have a plus (+) button on your phone, type two zero's, so it would look like this, 003530879734427.
Also, some people don't bother using the zero at the begining of the number because it's not needed, so calling the number with the country code (+353 or 00353) would look like this, +353879734427 and 00353879734427. |

The info you got is correct, but I notice that you are a newcomer to this site.
Can I give you a little piece of advice... When asking a question like you just did, do not give the real phone number of your friend. It's possible that all sorts of weirdos will now be texting the number, just to wind them up. It would have been better to show the number as a sample...like 0879700000 |
