Things to do in Dublin? There for 3 nights 4 days!?

Me and my sister (aged 23 and 20) are going to Dublin for a mini break at the end of August. We both like drinking and going to pubs and bars however DO NOT like clubbing at all. We'll be staying at the Hilton by the airport, which apparently has a good bus route to the town centre and "downtown" Dublin.

What things are there to do during the day on Saturday and Sunday, and also places to go on the Saturday Sunday night!

And this may sound like a silly question, but are there many Irish people in Dublin? With it being a popular tourist place? When I went to Palma (Spain) there were more Brits there than Spainish, will Dublin be the same with more tourists than Irish people?

Thanks in advance guys! I can't wait to go!

I'm from Dublin and have lived in the Uk, and while there are similarities, it is hardly like any small english city.
The people make a place, and the Irish are totallydifferent from the english.
My frind smokes, and the outside smoking areas in Ireland are like a 2nd pub, we were in the Uk in January, and nobody even looked at each other never mind chatted. I couldn't believe it.

OK, in Dublin, it depends on what you like. The museums and art galleries are good and free. St Stephens green is a lovely place to while away a Sunday afternoon, reading or just lounging about.

If you want to do the tourist stuff, go to Guinness, Smithfield jameson's museum, and Dublin Castle are good. If you like history, although all very anti Brit stuff. ( we were an occupied territory for 800 years) go to Kilmainham Gaol.

For night life, anywhere is good. Take a look around temple bar, but it's best avoided on a Saturday night. Any of the pubs off Grafton street, are good, and most bars are open late, so you won't need to go clubbing for late night drinks.
I'm not so sure about what is up around the airport, but try a local place on a Friday, guaranteed a laugh...

Enjoy your trip

I know when I go in October (I'm from the US), I plan on going to the Jameson Distillery and the Guinness Storehouse (both give free samples too!). I hope to get to the Temple Bar area too. I heard of a restaurant I'm eager to go to called "The Boxty House". I also plan on going to Dublin Castle and want to visit Christ Church Cathedral where apparently they have some mummies.

shopping in grafton street or oconnell street, or get the luas to dundrum shopping centre. captain americas in grafton street for something to eat one night (it's an american style diner) loads of pubs and bars in temple bar area. go to the guniness storehouse, you get a free pint too. If you're stuck in the day you can buy a 24 hour ticket for the sightseeing tour buses too.

Dublin is only good if you like drinking. Its like a small english city, has very few real sites and nothing of particular note. So drinking is the order of the day, start early and see your way through til the early hours, there are a mix of nationalities, last time i got chatted up by an aussie who thought i was a paddy, enjoy.
