This TV series 'the clinic'? |
I just saw something on the TV from Ireland (republic, not northern) which is this sort of soap opera set in some sort of health clinic. It sort of revolves around the mundane lives of the medical staff.
It is possibly the worst thing I have ever seen in my life. No offence intended to anyone Irish, but even for a soapie-drama sort of thing it's just bad. Even worse than Hollyoakes or Shortland St. from my home country of New Zealand.
Is this just some thing nobody cares about that Ireland's state TV network makes to keep its creative community in paid work or is it prime viewing?
P.S. I know it should be in the entertainment section but nobody Irish will probably see it and answer my question. Additional Details Don't worry ayhartlasketchup I doubt many people outside of Ireland have seen it. It was on this obscure Foxtel channel.

i find it odd that you say |"Is this just some thing nobody cares about that Ireland's state TV network makes to keep its creative community in paid work or is it prime viewing?" i wouldn't call those involved in it creative :)
look, the irish have a history of great writing of books (Joyce, Wilde, O'Brien), poetry (Kavanagh, Heaney) plays (Beckett) music but sadly no the only two irish people who have excelled when it came to writing in television excelled after they left the country (graham linehan and arthur matthews - among their work is the it crowd, father ted, the big train - all of which were made by the british)
we are terrible at making television ourselves. indeed linehan and matthews would have been thrown out of RTE studios if they suggested the creativeness that they've produced |

Uh, I'm Irish and the TV shows we have here disgust me..
I mean, there is probably some RTÉ guy's son in the room picking out movies from a list to play..
I mean, last week, during my easter holidays, they played Hocus Pocus (a hallowe'en movie)
The only good things that are on are shows from other countries that are shown here. |

Do not worry it is not prime time viewing. I'd say there is a few people that watch it but that's it. It is on sunday nights. I can safely say that I have not seen it once in my life and have never heard anyone saying anything positive about it either. We have another soap which is on twice a week and it is equally as awful. It's called fair city. It's a lot more popular but still terrible. |

I saw five minutes of it once, and had to run for the loo.
I agree with you wholeheartedly. It is truly desperate.

there are only 17 people working in RTE and they are all related. They are far from being an equal opertunities employer. when the anchor spot became availible on their top show, all the ould were dusted down and rolled out for the interviews.
NO NEW TALENT AT RTE is their motto |

I know its complete crap! Everyone hates it! RTE is the national broadcasting thing and everything they make is an embarrassment to the country.
edit: James is right they are all related and they all appear in EVERY SINGLE programme |

Haha! I agree, its pretty bad although some people find it pretty good!
It woyldn't be the worst to be honest... you shouyld see Fair City...lol! |

RTE are possibly the worst. Watching just about anything produced by the RTE is like watching a home movie shot by some mates to play it back over a few beers. Except they are using our license fee's and its played on national TV.
I think all of Ireland's creative talent emigrates abroad, may not for better pay but for the chance to do the work they want to do, unless your in the 'RTE Club'. |

Try watching Fair City. Worst program ever.
The Clinic is awful too but Fair City just about tops it for crappiest program on RTE. |
|

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge
|
If you think that's bad you obviously haven't seen Fair City yet!
