question for question

Did you know that 80 million US citizens have claim not only to Irish ancestry, but to the right to carry an Irish passport? Shocking but true.
Now why would we want to hait you? we're related to ya!

so next time you hear someone saying this, correct them for all of us who didnt hear them

Aoife
Not all Irish people hate Americans cause not all Irish are alike

Eddie F
Don't know where you heard that?? News to me.

Ireland has always been very receptive to the Americans. I think the word hate is not the term you should select??

To really hate someone, or some race or culture is a strong term - We usually deem them as fanatic's?

That ain't us!

Finnegan
If this is true, then it is a recent phenomenon.
When I visited Ireland, I was treated better than my own family could dream. Ireland has the most generous and hospitable people I've ever met, and would be shocked to learn it has become anything else.

Christine
Of course its not true, no country can blanket hate anyone!

A few people held an extreme dislike to that idiot who left the white house earlier this year, but that does not mean that feeling extended to ordinary Americans

Jas B
Whoever told you that was talking rubbish, There has over recent years been a strong dislike of American political policies and actions, both in Ireland and throughout Europe. This however is not a dislike of individual Americans,

The Irish have relatives and friends who live all over the world and many of them have traveled widely and lived abroad at some time. They are very friendly and welcoming.

Isn't true, if that were true we wouldn't have been swamped with Americans last tuesday at the parade, plenty of American flags in the parade too, probably for the visitors.

nah no1 hates ye...irish people have a tendency to be fairly sarcastic tho....not to stereotype or nothin...=P

The Nine Lives of Laura Gonzales
Nope. We hated the Bush administration and we aren't all that fond of bible thumpers (that's true everywhere) but we have no beef with the rest of you. =]

NO!

I believe that's completely the opposite. I was in Ireland for a couple of months and the people loved me simply because I was American (and perhaps that I'm Black). Every Irish person I met was so kind and loving and treated me better than anyone has ever treated me in my own country -the US!

While I was there, almost every person mentioned that they love Americans and how much Irish people love Americans, but that's not to say that all of them do. I'm sure there are a few who don't.
