they are the same...that's not a stupid question, I've seen a lot worse lol :D

Hello Nutty,
What a cute name, the answer is Yes, the plug sockets in Ireland are the same as in the UK, and you can even plug multi-adapters into the mains too, you know what I mean by an adapter, so you can plug 2 or even 3 electical items into the one power outlet, but as in the UK be careful not to overload the socket, and you will be safe to use your hairdrier or your radio or DVD player, enjoy your hoilday in my Country and just have lots of fun....Bye...Tony M...

yah, the plugs are the same in both Ireland and England, sure we even drive on the same side of the road!

kevina p
Hi, Yes they are, I was in Dublin last year had a fantastic time. Enjoy yourself.

peter k
Yeah they are...You'd have though they could have made them bigger and even more heavy and even more stupid than they are. North Americans And Europeans have little light plugs and here we are with these huge bulky dumb things ...Oh well

Trish D
Yes, though occasionally you will find the old two pin ones.

See http://www.kropla.com for an excellent site on electrical and telephonic sockets all over the world.

Not at all a stupid question. Irish plugs are, indeed, the same as in UK. So is the voltage -- 220V.

Firesparky
To be sure to be sure
