We're not so sure anymore Priscilla. We used to love him (not in a gay way) but after seeing him on the Late Late the other night, we think he might have lost the plot.

His traveller material wasn't even funny and seemed in very bad taste.
We think the comic muse might be drying up a bit with Tommy and we think he's starting to take himself a bit too seriously lately as well.
There's a touch of the Tony Hancocks about him.

Oh my god he’s just lost it. I useta love him but I couldn’t believe what he was saying on the Late Late. It’s one thing to challenge taboos and try to stir up controversy by telling jokes about Poles, Indians and travellers, but it is quite another to direct those jokes AT minority groups. That doesn’t challenge anyone. All it does is reinforce bigoted views. If Tiernan really was confronting Irish society about race and, as his website states, if all he was doing was deliberately stepping on politically correct toes, that would be acceptable, but he does not question why these stereotypes exist, he doesn’t poke fun at the people who are either overly PC or those who are bigoted, he doesn’t do anything except play to mindless prejudice and fall back on the type of lazy racist jokes that went out of fashion with Margaret Thatcher’s hairdo. He might claim he’s “just havin’ the craic”, but he should tell that to the kids from minorities in schools who are subjected to reruns of Tiernan’s ‘jokes’ on a daily basis. We had it in the local youth club yesterday – a traveller girl had the piss taken out of her mercilessly by the others about the ‘gay travellers in space’ gag. She was nearly in tears at the end of it. All Tiernan is doing is giving licence to the type of scumbag who’s likely to knife an innocent passer-by outside an off-licence just because he’s Polish, or the type of gurrier who thinks it’s acceptable to tie a girl up in school and humiliate her just because she speaks funny. This side of Tiernan is neither clever nor funny. He should go back to jokes about sex and drink and the Irish. If he can’t come up with genuinely funny comedy to challenge issues of race, he should just shut up.

I don't know if you can get these channels on cable in Tipp now, but since we live near the border in Donegal we get the BBC and UTV from the North's airwaves.

There used to be a couple of programmes "Til death do us part" and "In Sickness and in Health", with this cockney bigot called Alf Garnet.

If you replace the English accent with an Irish one, you have Tommy Tiernan.

I didn't find him funny before and i definitely don't find him funny now. Especially as the only way he can get a laugh is to insult people.

He used to be funny - quite some time ago. I'd say bigot. His jokes are lazy - he goes for the easy laugh at easy targets. Similar to the old British bigoted jokes about the Irish.

If you mean the Late Late I didn't see why the Traveller gag was meant to be funny but I still think the Indian thing was hilarious and I doubt see how anyone could be offended by it
