Hellothere

Tommy Tiernan, your opinions on him?

Irish folks, like or loathe him?
Additional Details
Oh and can you tell me some interesting Irish celebs generally. Reason I ask is I'm British and a lot of my British idols are of Irish descent.
Wondering what characters there are basically.

Some comedians like to make inventive jokes.

When Tommy is in bad form he loses perspective.

You should never mock people for what they look like or who they are.

Edit: For the people who thumbed me down. Good luck in finding your heart.

froggequene
He has his moments. I think his daughter will kill him though if she ever gets to hear any of his material from when she was little.

agooddub
Yeah! I like his irreverent humour and he doesn't pull back in interviews. He caused a storm on the Late Late Show and all the Holy Marys were ringing the show complaining. It's on U Tube.
For the asker...
One of my favourite local comedians is Brendan Grace. His DVD's of " Bottler " are a great laugh. He so impressed Frank Sinatra, on an Irish visit, that Sinatra insisted that he drop everything and go to Las Vegas right away to do a show for his friends. Sinatra invited half the Italian Mafia to the show and he was a massive success. He was given a permanent residency there and eventually brought his family there to live. Ireland's loss.
Another of my favourites is Dara O' Brien and best female is Deirdre O' Callaghan.

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge
He's lost his mojo.

Chloe
I love him! Ya can't really deny that he is funny, even if a little insulting or whatever.

Yep, I have to say I like him.......he has to outspoken to get noticed, and he really doesn't care, and that's what I like about him....if you are going to be brave enough to put it out there, you have to be able to take whats coming back at you/about you, and he does.....so yes, he gets my vote.

he's an ****.
all he does is scream and jump around like a monkey.
****.

RedDevil
I think he's hilarious although his last two dvd's haven't been that great imo. I actually met him once years ago and he seemed pretty nice.

Other good Irish comedians include Jason Byrne, Dylan Moran and Des Bishop.

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Johnny Rotten and Morissey had some Irish ancestors too.

Edit: Also you should check out Father Ted if you haven't already as it's a good example of Irish humour.

boofuswoolie
Tiernan has neither witt not humour: he is just a cheap shot Blasphemer

slipstreamer
I'm not Irish, but I am familiar with the man, and I don't find him funny. He used to be ages ago, I was shocked at how low he's gotten. Tommy Tiernan just goes for cheap shots now. There's no craft to his jokes.

Dara O'Brien is the funniest irish comic in my opinion. He reminds me of George Carlin or Bill Hicks with his observational humor.

Irish eyes
Loathe him!

jojo
yea he is psychotic but i love em... very funny nice in real life..and a total weirdo on stage but he is very funny

dara o briain is another comedian who is f**cking brilliant, joe rooney, niall delamar they are pretty good comedians...

Im currently in love with a radio dj he is soooo funny. his name is ray foley and he is on luchtime today fm really check him out his great

greenorlagh
I think he's the best, funniest comedian alive. He's so far ahead of anyone else - even the fantastic Dara O Brian.

Orla C
I think he's hilarious.

bluebell
He doesn't do it for me. OTT and not my style. I heard him being interviewed on radio, and he made some good points, but his job is being a comedian, and I just don't find him funny.

Love him!! He's for people 35 nd under, young people love him as for the older generation not so much, but my dad does laugh at certain jokes he tells.

He's hilarious, always makes a good point and he can laugh at himself..

Like a Fox
He was never that funny anyway but he's managed to get gradually worse, he can only manage to get a laugh sometimes by being nasty and a total git.
I much prefer Dara O'Brien and Ed Byrne.
