http://www.irishrail.ie/home/ <--- book your tickets here :D
you just have to print off your ticket online :) simple as that ...
i actually took this train down to killarney during the summer, you will have to change trains at mallow which is 3/4 of the way down.
have a great time ..x |

If you are booking them on the net then you just print them off |

As MamaCass said, when you book the ticket online, you print it off and produce the print-off as you embark. You may be able to substitute it for a proper ticket in Heuston Station.
The website is www.irishrail.ie and you'll probably have to change trains in Mallow (which is about 2 hours 25 minutes into your journey).
Have a good time! |

I've booked online several times, & printed my ticket confirmation. On the day, I just went to the station, they have rows of Irish Rail machines, pop in your credit card & it prints your actual train ticket. I didn't even have to enter my reservation number. You can book online up to 28 days ahead of your journey. You're looking for a Dublin(Heuston)/Tralee route - change at Mallow - there's no direct run. The journey takes four hours, bring a good book or an iPod!
There are Mon-Thurs web-only deals available - see first link below.
Killarney/Dublin Heuston = €16 each way = €32 on certain days & times - otherwise full standard fare = €62.
Select From Heuston To Killarney - and keep within the times to get the better rate.
Their online booking system is not at all user-friendly; a few tips; It supports IE & Firefox browsers, but not Safari.
You can opt for ticket-only - which could mean that you stand at peak times. Or book a standard seat, which costs more. For twice the price you can book a premier ticket, but those aren't part of any web Special Offers. When selecting a seat from the plan, seats facing towards the right of your computer screen are facing Dublin. And you need to click on Select under the Return column to click on a seat for the return trip.
(That screen won't move on or tell you that.) |

CIE or whatever they call themselves these days are not Ryanair. They wouldn't know a 'best rate' if it jumped up and bit them on the bum. Booking early won't save you anything. |
