Traveling from Scotland/England over to Ireland across the Irish sea? |
Me and some friends and family are traveling over there this summer and unfortunatly have made no plans to travel to Ireland. Now Im not sure where Im going to be when we decide to go over there (either england or scotland) but we plan to do so very late at night after it is already thought that were asleep. It is going to be myself and 2-3 other 16 year old american boys traveling alone. Im not sure how close were going to be to the irish sea so were probably going to have to take a taxi (are you familiar with these across the pond? theyre like public transportation for a few people in a car)bus, train etc. Is there a bridge, underwater tunnel, or an allnight ferry available to us so we can leave this continent with more of an experience than our guardians had planned? Which brings me to the topic of border customs. How hard is it going to be to be able to travel to Ireland (if possible) without parents, and what we would we need as far as personal ID and documents. |

You would need to get a ferry over to ireland from Troon, as for Id, as long as you have your passports and they are all up to date, you should be OK.

Hello! I’m here in good old England. I’m interested in these Taxi things you mention. I don’t think we have them. Usually when it’s just a few people requiring transportation we just all pile onto our packhorse or Donkey and set off down the track.
I’ve never been to Ireland myself, I hardly ever get a day off from the Mill, and I’m never allowed to leave the town as the Stagecoach only comes through one a week and you have to have obtained a royal charter to ride in it. However, old Tom down at the Black Horse (that’s our local pub) has been to Ireland. He tells us great tales of the leprechauns and magical witches that inhabit that green isle. I’ve asked him how he got there, and he tells us he rode a winged unicorn over. Unfortunately all the unicorns have gone now from England and Scotland, so no luck there. There is an schooner that crosses to Ireland, but the voyage takes 2 weeks and often claims the lives of over half those onboard.
Your best bet though is to take the underwater tunnel that runs from Loch Ness (where the monster is). You’ll be able to find some Gilly Weed (like in Harry Potter) and then swim through the tunnel. You’ll need a piece of gold each though, as there is an old bridge troll that lives near the entrance to the tunnel, and he acts as gatekeeper. Without crossing his palm with gold you’ll get nowhere.
As far as ID, we don’t have any over here. Passports are not required as the local Mayor knows everyone and we never leave our village or town (apart from the girls who have been married off at 12 years old to men from other villages). I think if you bring some things to bribe the soldiers at the port in Ireland you’ll be fine. Modern luxuries that we can’t get over here would work, things like toothbrushes, toilet paper, chocolate, Oranges and Bananas. If you can manage it maybe one of those ‘Beg Macs’ (have I said that right?) that I hear so much about!

Hard as it is to believe we do have taxis over here. You can get the ferry. There are several ports-the most common are Holyhead to Dun Laoghaire and Fishguard to Rosslare. No there are no bridges (we're not that close) and no tunnels. |

hey bud just fly a ryanair flight fill cost u about 30 euro return if u book it early . but eh just ask ur guardians to take a detour to ireland its not really something ull see in a night |

hi ya im from dublin
you should go to holyhead in wales......you can take a train from england to there.....then get the high speed ferry called the HHS to dun laoghaire a small town south of dublin .........it only takes 90 mins from port to port relatively cheap and hassle free..........if you are in scotland yeah you can get a ferry but you will still be in the united kingdom unfortunately,as you will be taken to the country of Northern Ireland rather than the republic. if you take this option of holyhead to dun laoghaire (pronounced hollyhead to dun leary) there is a light rail system called the dart right beside where you land which runs a few times per hour and will bring you anywhere on the dublin coast in less than an hour and to the city centre in approx twenty mins. |

The best way is to use the tunnel, Iceland,Reykjavic to Ireland ,Belfast it costs £15 (return) and yes we do have taxis here. |
