Traveling with dog to Ireland? |
Right now I live in North America and I am moving to Northern Ireland. We bought in America and we fell in love with it..so now we want to take it with us when traveling to Ireland. I checked every site and googled everything..but I either have to pay 5,000 or more dollars...another way is take my dog with me but the problem with that is all the airlines I checked they only go as far as London. I am really confused on what to do...is there any other way? I really don't want to leave it... |

You'll have to call the dog an Emotion Support Animal, to have it travel on the plane with you. Once you reach the U.K. you should be fine, but understand that Service Animals under U.K. law must be certified by the Government for public access. However, pets are more excepted, by and large, by the general public over the water. There's many a pub on the Emerald Isle, as has a pup or two, sitting at the feet of his master/mistress while they sip a pint of ale. |

It's tricky, because Northern Ireland is officially part of the United Kingdom, hence the London connection, but you are actually much better off flying to Dublin in the Republic of Ireland, and travelling from there, it will only take 3 hours on the roads.
Either way, if you want your dog on the island of Ireland, there will be a six-month quarantine period and you will have to foot the bill for this. Rules of the department of agriculture, I'm afraid. |

well iknow its sorry to have someone like that given away. i can't bleieve you can't ship it and not be arm and leg. i mean ask some of these breeders if there is way to get the dog moved with you. its seems so weird if you can't well i would just give the dog to a good firend and get one when you get over there only thing i know. |

I don't know about the dog, but I'd introduce myself as a Canadian if I was you. Unless it was a bad representative sample, I engaged in a Q!A not so long ago that seemed to make it pretty clear that the Irish consider those of USA extraction to be somewhere between pond-slime and dog poo on the cross-cultural amity scale. The sentiment may over-lap on fido. good luck. |
