Uniform needed in Ireland? |
SO im moving to some place in Ireland I forgot where sorry. But I was wondering if I am expected to wear any uniforms at any school? Im in seventh grade here . I already wear a uniform at the school I go to and I don't really like it . Its so bland . So like i was saying is there any schools that I wouldnt have to wear a uniform? I usually wear skinny jeans , vans, and a reguar t-shirt or jacket. Is that too much to just be walking on the street or to school? If you dont need to wear uniform , i hope.. |

7th Grade is the same as 1st Year in Secondary school.
Most secondary schools have uniforms, though some are less strict than others. My school is very strict about uniform. My school (all girls school) uniform is a green jumper for 1st-3rd years and a navy jumper for TY-6th years. A yellow shirt and then either a skirt or trousers with black shoes (most people wear dubes in my school).

Seventh grade - I think that would the equivalent of 5th class here. Primary school. Most have uniforms, except the small rural two-teacher schools, so it depends on where you will be going to live, and the school you will attend. The clothes you describe would be fine for walking on the street, or any after-school activities. |

Seventh grade... that makes you what, 12 or 13? You'd be starting into secondary school if that's the case. The vast majority of schools have a uniform I'm afraid. You might get away with a few "modifications", depending on how strict your school is though. =] |

You will definitely need to wear one and believe me some of them are atrocious. There's one near Dublin that's so bad it would make your eyes water. |

Most schools wear a uniform, sorry! Some aren't that bad, but some are absolutely terrible! My one isn't too bad, it probably sounds bad when I'm describing it, but it's not too bad! I have a pale blue shirt, royal blue skirt (knee level, not down to ankles!) and a royal blue jumper with out crest on it. We wear black socks/tights and black shoes. The 6th year pupils have to wear a navy jumper and there are no trousers allowed. (I go to an all girls school, except there are like 5 lads in repeat leaving, and of course they are allowed wear trousers!) I was at a play the other day with the school and there was another school there, and OMG their uniform! Green jumper with a green tartan skirt which went right down to their ankles!!! No joke!
Anyway I wouldn't worry about the uniform. You're only going to be wearing it for 6 hours each day and most aren't too bad. You're just unlucky if you have a bad one. And I think it sort of depends on where your moving to? In the county I live in all the uniforms are grand, but in Dublin, most of the uniforms I saw, I didn't like. But I wouldn't worry about the uniform, you may feel stupid but there are hundreds of other students in the same boat as you and you will get used to it!=]
And that outfit you described is fine for outside of school! That's what alot of people wear!=]
Good luck moving! x x x |

If it's in Northern Ireland, you'll almost definitely have to wear a uniform, I'd find it hard to name a school that didn't have one. Down South, there's slightly more of a chance that the school wouldn't have a uniform, but it's still pretty likely. Most uniforms would just be a jumper, shirt, tie and skirt/trousers, most aren't too bad, but none are great. It saves a lot of effort in appearances, though! |
