Well as your man said I wouldn't recommend Dublin at all.. go out towards the west coast for a true irish experience. If your stickin with dublin the normal touristy things like the guinness brewery and temple bar are probably the best! As im not a dubliner I don't know much else other than everywhere else in Ireland is much better craic :)

I'd recommend going on the city bus tour which you can get off of and rejoin

Its like a whistle stop tour of the many tourist attractions

There's plenty of attractions in Dublin even on the streets
Maybe you'd want to visit the Guinness factory which is huge
There is also a zoo

Well, it depends what you mean by "decent".
I can suggest you some good museums. My favourite one is the Chester Beatty Library, just behind Dublin Castle. Another good museum is the National Gallery, if you like paintings; or the National museum if you like archaeology and stuff.
If you don't like museums and just want to stay outside, I'd recommend a visit to Temple Bar, a walk in the parks (St. Stephen's Green and Merrion Square) and in Georgian Dublin.
If you like churches: St. Patrick Cathedral (and the lovely Marsh's Library in the back) and Christchurch Cathedral are the most famous ones.
If you like beer go to the Guinness Storehouse at St. James Gate.

If you have time, go outside Dublin! Take the Dart and go North to Howth or South to Killiney/Dalkey.
If you need any more ideas, whilst you are there go to the Tourist Office in Suffolk Street http://www.visitdublin.com/seeanddo/touristoffices/Detail.aspx?id=256&mid=2090

Dublin is not representative of Ireland, even Dubliners have admitted this - the real Ireland is outside of Dublin. However, Dublin is still worth visiting.

I agree, take the hop-on-hop-off bus that does all the sights, it's worth the money, and you can always go back to places you particularly would like to see again.

dublins an awful city, i would advice seeing anywhere in ireland except dublin. you will never hear an irish person recommend dublin unless of course they are from dublin and in that case have prob never seen outside the city
