WHAT SPECIFIC PROBLEMS DOES IRELAND HAVE?

i am doing a report

At the moment, there are problems with the supply of pork, some farms fed their pigs food with dioxins in it, so a lot of the pork has had to be recalled.

The health care system is experiencing serious problems.

Due the economic downturn, there are cuts in the budget which will affect families of school-going children and elderly people.

Anyone who bought property recently hoping to make a mint on it is reaching for their smelling salts ... especially in the Dublin region.

Economically or just in general? Ok well as of Thursday all of our pork products were recalled..which was a bit of entertainment. I'm sure thats major problems for the agricultural sector. The housing market has fallen on its ***. Since the budget third level education costs have doubled. That along with the recession is major bad news. Its reeeeally cold out too :P

AJ
We have ecomonic probloms MAJOR HEALTH problems a silly govermment!! crime problems its really just de same as ant other country!!

As others have said the recession is the big news at the moment, the shops have unheard of pre-Christmas sales, in order to persuade a nervous Irish public to part with its money. Small businesses report orders down to 20% of this time last year. Unemployment is rising rapidly with many Irish and foreign workers leaving to look for work elsewhere, a reported 1,300 Polish immigrants leaving every week.

The Government informs us that it does not have the money to spend its way out of the recession like the UK and US and that large reductions in public spending and increase in VAT will follow with more loss of jobs and more people going to Northern Ireland to do their shopping.

Being involved in the horse industry I can report that horse prices have dropped by around 50%, which will no doubt mean lots of horses will be abandoned in fields to fend for themselves this winter. After the recent Ballinasloe famous horse fair over 30 horses were left abandoned in the town.

Farmers have their had grants cut, this as well as the pork meat crises which caused on of the biggest produces of Ireland’s pig meat over 50 percent laid off 850 workers today .

So with the banks in trouble and industries struggling to keep afloat, a broke government things could be better.

Good luck with the report, it will probably have the black cloud hanging over it which seems to be hanging over all of us in Ireland at the moment.

Im Irish so I can tell you everything.
As the first answer says we have poisoned pork. The past 10 years or so were known as the Celtic Tiger or the booooom! In short everyone got rich and had brand news Mercs. Our main problem economically is that we are too dependant on oil. If the Saudis said 'Right lads, thats it' we would be fuuuucked. As for in general the government are 100m in debt because of this Credit Crunch crap and you have got all these idiot mothers wondering why there are cut backs in the local school.
All I can say is that patriotism is dead in this country. As for the Northern , British part of Ireland there is after 50 or so years of fighting peace, although I would still like if we had the English out.errrrrrrr

Mr. Trend Vampire
THEYA RE IRISH?

I THINK THAT IS THEIR PROBLEM
