No. However in NI there was an over 3 decade long period known as 'the troubles' where the Provos or PIRA carried out a campaign of terror in an attempt to achieve a united Ireland and the Loyalist paramilitaries responded in kind, as did a few state forces as well.
All of these groups planted bombs, used snipers, incendiary devices and intimidation in this attempt and financed it through bank robberies, kidnappings extortions and forgein donations to finance what they saw as their 'war.'
1000s died, civilians bearing the biggest brunt of the casulties.
The provos eventually decommissioned in 2007 and apparently agreed to use exclusively peaceful means to achieve their political aims.
There are still splinter groups such as the IRA or continuity IRA who still believe they have the right to murder in the name of their politics, they have little to no support in the community here.

There was a civil war some 90 years ago.
You are online...look it up if you are that interested.
I think it was superfluous to add that you are American.

OMG - 3 hours ago? why didnt anyone call me?? damned Paddys Day Celebrations.
there was a war this afternoon over a strip of land measuring 150yards x 100yards. Crossmaglen v Kilmacud. A fierce coming together of two rival Irish clans. Kilmacud inflicted the first ever defeat in such a battle on Crossmaglen whose Hero "The Bold McConville" was at last defeated. Long may his feats be remembered. Hail Kilmacud!!
only kidding lad. Our Gaelic football (club) finals were today as is tradition. No recent war here i'm afraid |

Last war ended in 1923.
Oh and for the record; corned beef is English and red hair is Scottish. |

The irish dont eat corned beef and cabage, its an american misconception.
Some Irish people will eat Bacon and Cabage, but never corned beef. |

I suggest going to wikipedia, typing in Ireland and looking at history of Ireland, and you'll see for yourself. There's lots to read on the history of Ireland.
Corned beef is not typical Irish, who told you that? Nobody eats that anymore. |

First of all it's not racist to say a place has corned beef or red hair it's just thickness.
And no there wasn't a war in Ireland recently. There was a bit of trouble up the north thats all. |

There has been some violence in Northern Ireland, which is connected to the continent landwise, but is owned by the UK. The continent of Ireland is safer.
And most Irish people have black hair, not red. |
