It was a fantastic day. To see grown men crying at their national anthem, I don't think I have ever been more proud. The Irish fans were so dignified and I really thought there would be trouble when god save the queen was played but fair play to the Irish, they showed nothing but respect. I watched it in an Irish pub in London and the English supporters were loud and arrogant. They were very quiet when the final whistle was blown. This game was history in the making and I'm glad that the records can finally show that the Irish were victorious over the English in croke park.

Also the sprirt of the game shown by your fans was excellent. What could have been a very uncomfortable atmosphere in a venue with the History and emotion of Croke Park was negated by the respect shown for the English fans and players.

Oh ya. I'm not a rugby nut but I do watch our team with pride and interest.

I was so proud of the passion shown by our guys for our National Anthem

Most of all I'm glad those scum up the road didn't get the chance to use "Irish Republicanism" as an excuse to stir up sh*t as us real republicans were either supporting our team or staying in silent protest ( by not watching the game egt. )

There is a reason why this game of any game has evoked such debate; we must remember this was not just a game, this was an occasion. We must remember Michael Hogan and many more like him.

We WILL remember this day.........The day we triumphed over the "old enemy"

So proud to be Irish cause we thrashed them and also they way the supporters welcomed the English madde me so proud.

Playing Rugby in Croker especially against England was such a sore point with a lot of people but we showed the world what a great nation we are and we gave the English respect for their national anthem.

and congrats also to the Irish fans who were so respectful and dignified during God Save The Queen...

It wasn't just a game, but an occasion which will be remembered!

Well all I can say that at least the Irish players and fans at the game don't hate US English as much as people on Answers do

Ireland won fair and square we were pants as usual but at least we didn't have fights and booing etc which was expected all things considered

So I personally think we should not only congratulate the Irish on their win but also on the fact that they were sincere winners no gloating and no bad atmosphere between teams

Oh Yes! and I am so proud too to be an Irish fan, of all sports Irish, but this game could only have been greater if I had been the referee, and I would have made sure that Ireland made sure that England got no points at all, and any English player that attempted to score any points would have been sent back to the dressing rooms, Me? Oh yes, I am biased for my own countrymen, and it's shame on me, boo hoo!, for my nature. but well done England you earned your 13 points. It's fair to say though, that Ireland played a much better attacking game, and this, has paid off handsomely. so three cheers for the boys in green again...... hip hip~~~~etc.........Tony M

I'm not. Yes, Ireland won! Yay! Great! One of the teams was going to win. So why did Ireland win?

What has that got to do with being Irish? With the guys who put the effort in to do that, to get them there over the years? With all the people who lived with the bullying and the pressure to win, not to play as best they could out there?

You would have rubbished them if they'd lost? I'm not a true rugby fan. I really enjoyed the match - but I'm no expert commentator. Glad they won; they needed to exert themselves, they did well. Wish there had been more converted tries and less penalties? Glad no one was injured. Glad the fans were as civilised as they are usually. Hope the fans who travelled the furthest to support their team are happy and cheerful tonight and enjoyed their visit.

But wouldn't I wish that anyway? What do you care about sport if you only follow the internationals and celebrate nationalism? I'm glad you do it peacefully, and that's because I'm Irish. So now.

And what of all the gardaÃ who didn't get to see the match at all? Keeping an eye on the white trash who were getting ready to cause trouble, for hours? The people who had to wait 45 minutes before leaving the car parks in case there would be trouble? Since the last rampage, I'm not sure that I'm at all proud of being a citizen of a country that fears thugs who hate it when things don't go their way. Since the last stupid incident in Dublin, no, I don't think so. I'm not proud of our behaviour.

I'd honestly feel safer in my own country if "Ireland" had lost and still recognised that our visiting team deserve thanks for travelling to strange territory to support a team which could have won or lost. Good for them, and I applaud their spirit, and their guts in seeing it through. I hope they had a great time, and found that most Irish people are glad to see them relishing a trip over, win or lose. Although they came to see a game, I hope they leave having made new friends.
