We will be going on Holiday to Ireland the end of July into August. Any tips, what not to do, etc.? We will be staying at a guest house the first few nights, should I bring the host a gift? If so, what?(I will be coming from America) Thank you!
Additional Details
We will be traveling from Galway to Clare on horseback, and seeing the countryside that way. The last leg of the trip will be in Limrick. |

You have absolutely no need at all to bring an Irish/English dictionary with you. Everyone here speaks fluent English, even those that speak in the Irish speaking area's. Bring plenty of money, a gift to you host is a lovely idea and will be greatly appreciated, maybe you could bring something that is unique to your area in the US or that is made there. bring clothes from warm weather and clothes for cold weather, it is warm here at the moment but our weather is so unpredictable. Most of all enjoy, and make sure to check out some Irish pubs, especially the ones with live music. Have a ball |

Hi, my mother-in-law just came back from Ireland. She said it's cold there (so bring something to make you warm). and also, bring a english/irish dictionary with you.

Hi,
it totally depends really on how long you have and where you are staying. If you are anywhere near Galway make sure that you go to The Galway Races-this is a 10 day festival and is the biggest and best in Europe!
Early August also has a Bank Holiday so is the busiest weekend of the entire year so be prepared for big numbers in restaurants, bars etc.
Personally I would try Galway , Sligo and possibly Donegal. I would avoid the tourist traps like Kerry and Cork at this busy time. (Hope this is not where you say you have already booked! Just a personal opinion thats all.)

people dont usually bring their host a gift but if you want too,you can.the weather is usually pretty mild at this time of year ,but bring a rain coat just in case.i would advise you in activities but you did not mention which area you are going too |
