Weather for Southern Ireland? |
My fiance and I will be spending our honeymoon in Ireland, arriving June 17 in Dublin and staying for 10 days.. We're travelling all around the southern and east coast, Waterford, Cork, Killarney, Limerick, Shannon, then back straight across with a stay on Offaly county and back to Dublin. We are currently packing, and we're unsure of what is really necessary. I love warm weather so anything less than 70 F i use sweaters, but we also plan totour and sightsee, and I know it gets hot walking around and such. Whats the daily average highs, and overnight lows? We'll be staying in bed and breakfasts along the way, so i'm wondering if they are heated at night, or if i should also pack warm pj's? Any help is appreciated, we want to finish shopping for our trip this weekend :D Thanks! |

To be honest, its hard to say....
it could be either hot or cold
For instance, last week was SO sunny....but today it absolutely lashed rain
Its very unpredictable
I can assure you that every B&B in Ireland has central heating though....and they wont let you go cold
i advise you to take "a bit of everything" because you never know what you might get.
June, in theory, is a hot month.... so try to assume it will be sunny!
Dont forget to bring some sweaters and jeans though.....just in case!
the Summer weather (if youre lucky) could reach up to 25*C...but be prepared that it COULD rain
I hope its really nice for you though!

Totally unpredictable is all I can say and that's being honest.Just becuse you get roasting hot sunshine one day does not gaurantee you won't get rain and cold winds the next. There's no such thing as average temperatures in Ireland. We take what we get here!
Layers are your best bet.Add a brolly(strong one)and a light waterproof jacket.Hope you won't need them.
May you have a long and happy life together. |

I would dress in layers, the closer you are to the sea, the cooler it will be. I would also count on rain showers. They do not get above 80 usually even in the heat of summer but it also doesn't get below 40 even in winter.
Enjoy Ireland, it is a great place!! I loved the Waterford factory tour and watching them actually mold the crystal was fasicnating, you are practially standing next to them and when the drip a handle onto the pitcher - wow!! I know it is touristy but it was enjoyable and I didn't even think I would like it.
The B&Bs should have heat but since I don't know where you booked them you should check with each one directly. I am surprised this didn't come up when you were booking. |

I live in Waterford and at the moment the weather is fabulous(6pm) but this morning - on my way to work it was raining! the weather is very unpredictable so its best to pack for both types of weather! best way is to check the weather a few days before you travel... you can check it here www.met.ie
If you are staying in bed and brekfasts they will have heating on in the rooms and normally have thick blankets - after all ireland is cold most of the year round! It will be mild in June but it may rain!
oh and congrats and have a great time!! hope we get nice weather for you !! |

Your guess is as good as ours, dearie. This is IRELAND we're talking about. Prepare for both. Oh, and we use Celsius to measure temperatures, not Fahrenheit.
Most B&Bs have heaters for the bedrooms. You can always ask for extra blankets. |
