Check out this link http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-... , I stayed here recently and it was fine, right in the middle of Temple Bar, perfect for restaurants, bars and the like, you can walk to anywhere in the city centre from here, very busy area , very safe even late at night,
hope this helps

Try a few places on Aston Quay. Its relatively close to Temple Bar. I think there is a Jury's Inn there and a few other hotels. Good location.

There are some great hostels close to Temple Bar and O'Connel Street. Off the top of my head: Ashfield House (a block away from Temple Bar and O'Connel Street) and St. John Gogarty (in the heart of Temple Bar). I prefer Ashfield if you can get a bed.

No cheap hotels in Dublin city centre at all anymore. But try www.hostelworld.com for cheap accommodation, there are plenty of hostels in the city.

Don't forget to bring lots of money with you. You're going to need it.
