Every tourist I speak to, mostly Americans, Australians, New Zealanders and Eastern Europeans love Galway, its on the west coast which is the part of ireland known for its charm and beauty and also how nice the people are, its crime rates are very low and the work is plentiful. If you want too meet people though and have less crime etc. perhaps you should try a town/village, these are where there is a real sense of community and hence crime is low too. Get yourself a nice local pub and get in with the locals its the best (and proably only) way to socialise in Ireland. Definately choose somewhere on the West Coast though North or South... Galway County, Clare County.. etc they all have some nice seaside towns just look at a map and pick one!! Maybe wikipedia or google some of them!

Hope this helps!

Where ever you can get a secure well paid job within easy travelling distance should be your first priority. Are you a country person or feel most comfortable in a city?,
Do you have a family or just yourself to house?
To get a valid answer you need to identify what you need to make a choice.
Jobs in high tech are still centered around Dublin but as great as it is the cost of property and everything else is higher.
If you have the sort of qualifications that are wanted and are single you just need to see were you have the best job prospects by looking at Irish Recruitment or Employment agencies on the net..
See a good job you might be happy with? then check out its location and what it has to offer you.
Good Luck
