What's Ireland's summer sports? |
I'll refrain from jokes about Irish summers. ;)
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but as far as I'm aware Gaelic football, Hurling, Soccer and Rugby all winter codes in Ireland.
So what is the summer pastime? is it golf? Tennis? Ireland's not known for Baseball/Softball or Cricket.
Just curious. Additional Details Qualifying for the ICC Cricket world cup doesn't mean the sports major in that country. I remember NZ thumping the Netherlands in some Cricket world cup and most Dutch people don't even know what Cricket is. I'm certain at some stage Canada had some success in a Cricket world cup and hardly any Cannucks know anything much about Cricket.
How many players in the Irish Cricket team are Australians with an Irish grandparent or something? |

I've never heard of 'winter' and 'summer' sports. We play them all year around. Gaelic, hurling, camogie, etc are our main sports. |

Irish cutie!!

We play Gaa through out the summer!!! And All the rich play golf aswell!! |

Sailing!thats what keeps me busy during the summer!
tennis as well is a good one for the summer...
there's loads of gaa summer camps too... and i think my brothers all play tag rugby instead of proper rugby in the summer...
so i guess the sports are pretty much the same!

theres no 'summer sport' as such.
those who follow gaa play year round. when competitions are not being held, players practise to keep up their skills.
gaa stands for cumann lúthchleas gael and involved gaelic football, hurling and camogie.
Rugby is also big in Ireland. |

People get out and walk, and some do it the expensive way and play golf, but not everyone. Lots of people cycle. Locally lots of kids keep playing the GAA sports through the summer. |

The major game in Ireland is the GAA championship. Association football is also played as a summer sport rather than winter with the league just kicking off 2 months ago.
Cricket IS a summer sport in Ireland and at the last WC Ireland fielded more home grown players in the side that England had English born. Kevin Peitersen isn't exactly English is he? So don't start all that old rubbish. |
