Tribbles

What's the best tone/language to use when complaining to my local county council.....?

Should I be effin' and blindin' at them or try to be reasonable when dealing with them? Been without water for going on 2 days. The fe*kers doing roadworks just up the road from me burst a water pipe leaving 2 villages without water...they didn't even give us notices as to how long we will be without water, when the water will be turned back on... I have to travel 20 miles into Limerick for a shower....and I'd die for a cup of tea right now! Plus the fact that I am heavily pregnant with our first child- due on Monday....as you can imagine I am pretty cheesed off and stressed beyond words. So, should I get on the phone to them and play for the sympathetic vote or should I just let loose and go nuts???

Viva La Eire!
Definatly be polite.

i used to think that effin and blindin would get you more attention and would make then want to help you more but thats just not true. i worked in customer care for meteor (the phone Co.) and when i had an angry customer on the phone i wasn't in the mood to help them at all but when i had a nice person with a problem I would do everything I could!

froggequene
There's no point in effing & blinding at the person at the end of the phone, they are the messenger & probably just as in the dark as you are about how things will progress.

Be polite, try to keep your temper - the person at the other end of the line will understand you are railing against the system rather then them personally, however, you probably won't be the first person to ring up about the water problem & if you start f*cking them out of it, they'll probably hang up & you'll know no more then you do now.

Worse case scenario, if they can't offer an alternative solution or a completion date, ring the Limerick Leader.

There should also be a facility at Limerick County Council where you can lodge a formal complaint but if they don't, try contacting the Ombudsman.

VS Bodyboard
Stay polite, but be persistent. Ask to speak to the person in charge. Keep calling if you don't get where you want.

keep a hard strong note being nice to them but if you feel that your not getting anywhere be persistant and do not back down from them. I've had enough trouble with county councils and no water so i know what your going through.

Ella's Mamaí
dont be effin and blindin at them anyway...I know how you feel. I was pregnant earlier this year when we were trying to buy our house and i had serious trouble with our council. but ya wont get anywhere by taking that route, afterall its not a fault of the person at the end of the phone(in most cases) if it is explain it to them in a calm mannor, they will deal with you better than they would to someone abusing/shouting at them!

be satirical it will make them see how you don't respect them for their lack of action!
