What Irish companies will hire Americans?

I am an American citizen looking to find a job in Ireland. What companies in Ireland have a good history of hiring US citizens/giving out work permits? I have a bachelor's degree in Marketing and Business, unfortunately nothing amazing like a medical or science degree. Any advice here would be helpful, even a good recruitment agency. Thank you all.

Like there are a lot people in Ireland who have a marketing Degree and work in a clothes shop. It is all who you know. Jobs a few in Ireland at the moment anyway. Try Kerry group. They have a graduate program.

Right now very few companies are taking on staff.

How it works in the EU is like this: first of all, companies look for potential employees locally. If they can't find what they are looking for, they look in other EU states. Only if they can't find what they are looking for in other EU states do they look outside of the EU.

The reason for this is the paperwork to hire anyone from outside the EU is expensive, as it costs companies much more to get residency/work permits and visas processed. The residency/work permit for an EU national is by comparison much less.

Sorry. Not even medicine can cut the mustard here right now anyway, unless you go the private route. And we have plenty of our own Marketing and Business graduates, so unless you have a really great product or idea, I would wait a while and gather what experience you can where you are currently.

Quite a few companies in Ireland are actually outposts of US based multinationals - I have a few friends who moved there when their jobs moved there. Given the rough job market at present, I would start at an American company based in the US and then try a lateral move to Ireland. The American Chamber of Commerce (in Ireland) is a good place to start looking, I have attached their website. Most of the firms are IT oriented - Microsoft etc...So, it really depends on your skills and career.

Right now everything is on a downturn - not a great time to try to move/get hired abroad. I know a few people trying to go the other way - Ireland to the US - looking for work.

EU work rules are difficult, but Americans with particular skills are occasionally hired by firms there. It is not impossible - but it is difficult. It would make it easier if you could get a visa yourself - Ireland is supposedly going to be issuing some work visas to Americans as part of an exchange for letting Irish get visas and residency for the US. Not sure what the timetable on that is. I have linked to that info as well - see below. Of course, if there is no work - a visa is pointless. But give it a shot.
