Well we wouldn't eat fish fingers with mayonnaise and we're not too found of the oul tripe and drisheen either.
We'd never eat a rasher that wasn't maple cured and we only eat the buttered eggs that you can only get in the English Market in Cork. It's a long way from Ballydung to Cork but it's worth it for the eggs.

Another thing, we don't like baked beans with fried eggs. We hate the way the yolk mixes with the tomato sauce from the beans and goes a funny colour and texture.

Other than that we'd ate anything.

I don't think there are many taboo's as such, although I agree with P&R, I hate beans and eggs together, especially for breakfast. In fact beans are not ususally served for breakfast .

Also the no meat rule on Good Friday, is still very strong, and some people won't eat meat on any Friday. But that is a fading tradition

The main thing I could think of, was the need to have fresh bread with all meals. Especially, brown soda bread with soup. And real butter, has to be real butter.

Fish on Friday, no meat during lent - but that is sort of old fashioned since Vatican 2, and not just an Irish thing.

The only food taboo is to not waste it, really.

Orla C
Don't waste food would be the main taboo. The problem is that most of the prepackaged rubbish available in the supermarket is waste to begin with, full of nasty additives and fats and lacking in important nutrieents, so we are now developing a generation of obese people.

Krubeens pigs feet, Yuck, during famine time the pigs head would have been eaten, potatoes were a staple part of the irish diet, to this dayolder generation are very much meet and three vegetables, indian, chinese, italian foods would be alien to them
and dont forget black pudding that is an isish delicacy especiallt clonakility black and white pudding

One of the biggest problems with Irish Food is that people often over cook vegetables. For example, cabbage does not need to be boiled beyond existence for hours, carrots should have some crunch left in them and so on.
We have lots of natural good food but old cooking habits mean people don't enjoy the good food we have.
