I read an article only 4 percent of irish have red hair and 10 percent of scottish have it. So scotland leads ireland. Most Irish think the vikings or normans brought in red hair and that it is not native. In fact red hair is also native to scandanavia. Irish are insightful, witty and articulate. They have great oratory skills. Like Bill Clinton or Ronald Regan or JFK all have irish ancestry, they have a great speaking ability. They are great comedians and wit like Dana Carey George Carlin Robin Williams all Irish. they are outspoken think of Robin Williams he embodies Irish speaking no other race or ethnicity I have met have been able to duplicate that.

Stereotypes are what come about when our scum meet some other country's scum ratarsed drunk on some beach in Benidorm. They have nothing at all to do with 99% of the population.

sorry, but I have no time for stereotypes.

it annoys me that we are portrayed as drunks. Most Irish people who drink aren't alcoholics.
I lived in England for a while, and a small few people do actually believe, Irish people are stupid. I was amazed by the ignorance of that.
There is also a belief we are always happy and jolly. If only.

The myth that all Irish have red hair. We redheads are rare even in Ireland.

The drunk. The charmer. The red head. The uneducated labourer. The terrorist. The priest. The fighter. The raconteur.

In fairness, on drink I think we do over do it a bit, about a month ago I was in Scotland on a stag weekend and I was embarrassed by the level of drunkenness of our gang, myself included, the group was a typical cross section of Irish lads, no scumbags, in each place we visited we were the most rowdy, loud and drunken crowd. I dont mean trouble causing just dogging the lush too much.

that we drink, that we have red hair, that we all live on farms (or in the countryside at least) and that we all eat potatoes.

We are tragic alcoholics, who are at first charming, mischievous and up for a laugh, then we get drunk and we begin starting fights, singing sad songs and weeping for Ireland.

that we have red hair and leprechaun's and we all live on the side of mountains eating spuds(potatoes)! That we drink alot, are very welcoming and friendly.

That we are constantly smashed. That we are a country full of red heads. That if we are not busy drinking we are eating potatoes. Here are some stereotypes that I hear frequently being in America at the moment. That we all bathe with this brand of soap called Irish Spring, which I have never seen in Ireland. That we love this cereal called Lucky Charms, which I have never seen in Ireland. It features a red headed leprechaun who eats magical delicious cereal. I'm a chef, and when ever people ask me about my ascent and I tell them I'm Irish they tell me this lovely joke, "Whats a 7 course Irish meal....a potato and a 6 pack of beer".

The typical ones are that the Irish are all drunks and intolerant of non-Irish

Oh, and the red hair thing.
