These are actually the top colleges in order according to my guidance book!
1 University College Dublin Dublin
2 University of Dublin, Trinity College Dublin
3 Dublin City University Dublin
4 University College Cork Cork
5 National University of Ireland, Galway Galway
6 University of Limerick Limerick
7 Dublin Institute of Technology Dublin
8 National University of Ireland, Maynooth Maynooth
9 Cork Institute of Technology Bishopstown
10 Limerick Institute of Technology Limerick
But it really all depends on the course your doing, e.g. i'm in 4th year now and am deciding on my future college course, I've narrowed it down to primary teaching, some kind of business course like accounting or some kind of physics/chemistry course.
If i'm doing teaching i'll be going to Mary Isle in Limerick,
If i'm doing Business i'll go to UCC because i think its got great facilities
If i'm doing Science i'll be going tio Trinity because their science facilities are unreal! The amount of money they put into science is phenomenal.
Sorry about droning oon but just wanted to make a point! |

I agree that Trinity is over rated! Also, I did not see the university of Limerick on the above list, which is defiently as good as trinity. UCD is huge, hard to keep friends and not very personal. Also, accomodation in Dublin is very expensive.
I would recomend the university of Limerick! |

Well, they involve real study. You can't buy essays or term papers, and if Daddy is rich it doesn't do you any good.
In other words, they are real universities. |

UCD and Trinity in Dublin are both world class in pretty much all fields and Queen's University in Belfast is part of the Russel Group. |

Irish universities are excellent. A little surprised that nobody has mentioned NUI Maynooth which is university of the year at the moment. It all depends on what you want to study. I would advise NUI Maynooth or NUI Galway. |

why is cork university fifth on the list?griffith college is a private school and it costs a fortune to go there, yet alone including books, etc. well, i'm biased, but cork university is a great college, huge range of courses, really helpful lecturers and administration staff, massive library, great night life and everyone is really relaxed down here.also, it's cheaper to live in cork than in dublin!and there is a lot of American students who come over to cork university, so clearly american colleges have a high opinion of our little university! |

Trinity, Dublin
Maynooth
Galway
Limerick
Queens, Belfast
University of Ulster
etc all good places to study. |

It all depends on what you want to study. I think NUIG is the best- perfect size, great people, good range of courses, but unfortunately they don't do Bachelors in Education so I can't go.
Colleges in Ireland are quite similar to American as far as I know when it comes to social life, accomodation, but I think the courses are very different. |

I've been to Uni in Galway (NUIG) studying An Art's Degree. I loved living in Galway, it is just the best City. You cannot beat Galway for having the craic. I have so many fond memories.
I left NUIG as I didn't like my course and found the classes to big, I'm now studting Veterinary Nursing in Letterkenny I.T in Donegal (LYIT) and I couldn't have found a better course.
So in short, NUI Galway = A great city and Uni, if you can handle the huge amount of people.
LYIT = Not a good city, but a nice small and good quality I.T |

It REALLY depends what do you wanna study. America has thousand of colleges good and bad. In Ireland you don't have those thousand options. I can give you a lit of good colleges here
1)Trinity College (Dublin_
2)Griffith College (Dublin)
3)UCD (Dublin)
4)Galway College (Galway and it's unbeatable)
5)Cork University (Cork)
Ireland doesn't a college in the level of Harvard, Yale, New York University, Georgetown University but their standards are ok.
rita g: My list is not based on a quality-priority.
Griffith College is expensive but good enough, Queen's University in Belfast is good but there is so much racism there... I forgot abt Limerick university |
