ok i have to say sorry no one here is called paddy or sheamus i have lived here all my life and never met anyone named them. paddy is short for patrick which is populerish.

the most populer irish first names at the moment are sean, donal and conal

the most pouler second names would probably be mcarthy and murphy but you can allways have one of those traditional ones o'driscoll etc

to be honest irelands most commen names now are jsust boring things like andrew or sarah lol im called josh neilly for god sake loll

look at the irish rugby team and use one of their names :)

good luck all the same it annoys us if we see paddy or seamus so avoid them to keep up sales in ireland lol.

For guys, common traditional Irish names are Gearoid (pron. Gar-owed) Sean, Padraig (pron. Paw-drig), Cian (pron. Kee-an), Cillian (pron. Kill-ian), Colm, Eoin (that's Owen in Irish), Liam, and Lorcan. Stay away from things like Paddy and Seamus!

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge

It depends. If you're talking about the sort of silly names that kids are given today by their 'sophisticated' parents then Kyle, Jamie, Jake and Calum are popular.
God help them!

Orla C
Seamus, Patrick, Michael, Rory, Conor ....

Orla (!), Maura, Deirdre, Sinead, Aoife ....

His Doll Faced Girl Anachronism♥
John, Seán, Robert, Christopher, Mairc, James, David, Conor, Eoughan.
Go biblical and look up Irish spellings of names.

do not under any circumstances use 'Paddy' or 'Seamus' for someone young. They are only found in 74y/o farmers these days!

Shitarse
Michael (pronounced mee-hall)
Padraig (pronounced pod-rig)
Senan (pronounced senan [lol])
Doghnal (pronounced do-nal)
Eoghan (pronounced own)
Peadar (pronounced pa-der)

Depends where in Ireland he's from - working class Dubliner will most likely have a name like Wayne, Lee, Danny, Dean etc or the most common Dublin name and therefore most common name for a bloke in Ireland - Darren (pronounced Darr-den)!

County boys have normal names like Stephen, Paul and old school irish names like Padraic, Cathal etc.

Cork& Limerick boys have a mix of the two types (Dublin names and country names)

& Belfast/Derry boys have either well irish names (Oisinn, Fionn))or names like Bobby (for Catholics) and Protestants will have real English/Biblical names (Arthur, Samuel, etc) so they can pretend their from Britain!

Kit
Shamus. Spelled some godforsaken way.
Also Paddy. There's always a Paddy.

OH - Conan - don't forget about Conan, that's always a good one.

heyyy macaillais - sham and pad are some of my bestest friends : ) and they're quite some *cough* characters *cough* too.
