Curious One
Both are very nice. The houses on Griffith Ave are just beautiful (and expensive!). I live in Drumcondra. It has better access to shops, restaurants, buses, etc. than Marino and isn't quite as pricey as Clontarf is in general. Consider Drumcondra!

I used to live in Marino. It's nice and quiet but the 123 bus service is all you can get unless you want to make the 15 min trek up to Drumcondra Rd. The 123 comes every 7 mins, so it is frequent enough. It only takes about 15 mins to get into town. But when I lived there I had a feeling of being stranded! Just one bus that only went one direction as Marino is the end of the line. Nothing to do at all there either. I am much happier living just a mile away off of upper Drumcondra Rd.

Great buzz on that road. Loads of cafes, shops, pubs, restaurants, a Tesco, dry cleaners, pharmacy, bakery, SPAR, the DART, about 6 different bus lines, you name it.

Never lived in Clontarf but have spent a good bit of time there. St. Anne's park has an incredible farmer's market, the Yacht is a lovely restaurant/pub and you can't beat living on the waterfront! Don't know what buses are like but there is a DART station.

Nice, sea front, good public transport links too. Quite expensive though!

Clontarf is on the sea front and is quite nice, has plenty of buses and a dart (rail) so it's pretty easy to get into town, Marino is closer to town again. Both areas are quiet and nice

Clontarf is lovely but it extends over quite a distance. At the end which is nearest the city there is a dart station but the rest of Clontarf is served only by bus. It is easy to get into the city.

Marino is much nearer and a lot busier traffic wise. It is served by lots of buses depending on quite where you live. Be warned if buying a house that the tunnel goes under some of the houses there. Supposedly this is not a problem but I understand it has devalued the property somewhat.

If I had a choice I would live in Clontarf as it is a nicer area. However, property and probably rents are likely to be dearer than Marino. Drumcondra is not bad but again there is a lot of traffic.
