Obviously it would be impossible to say that all Irish people are outgoing, friendly, funny and nice as that's based on personality rather than nationality. There is some general themes that you should be aware of:
Social life in Ireland is based on alcohol, so if you drink it's easier to make friends, especially if you're in college.
The Irish like to watch films. Irish cinema goers have the second highest level of cinema attendance in Europe.
Irish people are generally very positive towards Americans as many Irish emigrated to the US over the centuries. US and Irish culture is very similar, so you'll never be stuck for something to talk about.

lots of questions like yours recently. We do not have a national prejudice towards anyone. We love and hate the same as everyone else. I, for my part would welcome any student to Ireland (providing you promise not to vote Republican later in life lol)

Well like any other country the Irish can be lovely are absolute dickheads. People do have this idea that all Irish people are friendly and for the most part it's true, but there are also people that aren't.

We're lovely folks, lol. Seriously though you'll find good and bad everywhere but on the whole Irish people are still very welcoming, friendly, funny, relaxed.

Some folks have said Irish people hate when Americans say they are Irish, huh, I don't! I know what folks mean when they say that, that they have a connection going back a generation or two or whatever to Ireland.

Politically, Irish people would like Democats more than Republicans...lol I dated a Republican once from Virginia, nice girl, a real shame...lol

Oh, and Republican in Ireland means something totally different than Republican in America! hehehe....If you don't know you can wiki it. Enjoy Ireland!

As an Irish man I can tell you that we like everybody ... we joke about hating the French, what we would do to the Spanish if we got to a fight ... but we all know it's just fun !!. We are a warm people that loves to have the 'craic'. Life is far too short to hold grudges ... life is for living. So come on over and have the time of your life, you will never forget your time in Gods own country ... IRELAND.

We are like every other country some people are lovely and some are assholes!!

GennerallyI think the Irish are nicer than most other countries and us students are good aswell!!

And for Americans, well we ain't racist but we hate americans who claim they are Irish because there great great great granfathers came from Ireland!! That doesn;t make you Irish and us Irish hate when ye say that!! So when you come don't say you are Irish unless you lived here before our else the Irish will turn against you!! ;-0

Good luck!!!

Hmm,
Well I think i'm pretty cool (lol!), but, come on, what answer are you looking for?
We're all different. I can only give you my own opinion.

I'm pretty neutral when it comes to Americans...(like most people.)
I just don't like ignorant people. And they come from every corner of the globe.

I've met a few Americans doing the whole erasmus thing in my college and most of them were really nice.
In fact, i've never had a bad experience with an American (except for the retarded tourist types lol)...but I do know that annoying, ignorant and just plain stupid ones DO exist.
Notice how I don't shove you all in the same box!
xD

We aren't all the same you know

Doom!!!
Very cold and narrow minded people. I am happy I don't live there anymore
