Well, I'm not quite sure, as I've never been. I've been studying up on it, though - I'm heading over in Jan/Feb-ish to study on contract from my college. I'll be living in a truck, travelling, and painting for ten months; what about you? Where are you going to base yourself/go to school?
I think the main thing I've heard is that strangers won't recieve a good welcome if they force themselves on locals - don't walk into a pub, sit down, and start telling everyone present about how amazing you are. Walk in and order a beer, be friendly, don't be overbearing - people will get to know you on their own terms :) |

1. Change your name and don't brag about money
2. Don't compare everything to your country (which I assume is the US)
3. Be open and friendly, the locals certianly are
4. Don't be naieve, not everyone is your friend, some will be out to rip you off
5. Make the most of your visit and try to experience, and appreciate, the different culture. |
