There are loads of good ones.Listen to what you like. It's all part of the history of our country and the fight to get it back.If others don't like it that's their problem. |

Nothing wrong with listening to rebel songs.
As long as you remember that they are now part of the history of the country, not its present.
Four Green Fields, what a lovely song. Tommy Makem was a wonderful singer and songwriter.
Green Fields of France is not a rebel song, it's an anti-war song. Listen to the lyrics. |

My personal favourite is Sean South from Garryowen
While "Seven Drunken Nights" is not a rebel song, it's a great folk song and has a colourful history.
The Green Fields of France is a beautiful song and The Furey/Davey Arthur made a fantastic job of it.
Family favourite is The Old Bog Road, which always brings a tear to my eye.
If you want to hear these songs being sung, just go to YouTube and type in the name of the song. |

Why? Because it's a private joke with my friend and I just like the song! |

Why do you want to listen to these songs now when the troubles are over and so many good people have worked so hard for peace?
My father fought in the war and was an unwilling guest of Mr Hitler for a few years, but that doesn't mean I want to listen to Vera Lynn or watch war films. Move on. There's more to Irish culture that these songs. |
