What are the best and worst Irish produced tv programs ever created? ?

For me...
Best: Fr Ted and The Panel spring to mind.
Worst: Failte Towers hehe and and that Charlie Bird in the arctic is pretty dire.

Your thoughts?!
Additional Details
Haha! Some great ones here! Ohmigosh, i forgot about celeb jigs and reels, how bad was that! I think some of these might have been a lil before my time, cos i have no recollection of them! (i'm 16)

Hey 'Stranger' talk about doing your homework?
Firstly you got an icky attitude and i dont like you,
Secondly i admit i was wrong! I wasn't aware Fr. Ted wasn't irish produced but i did some research and that statement you made about 'taking the piss out of the priests' is totally false
and Thirdly Failte Towers is IRISH! The word Failte is welcome in Irish you dum dum!
Are you thinking of Fawlty Towers?! Ha! Bit of a difference!!

So You should really do your homework before you start criticising other people! :-)

I Say, Old Chap!
I'm going to get shot down for this so badly, but my all time favourite and dearest childhood memory would have to be Bosco.
I watch it now and it's so dated, but at the time I lived for it.

Worst - I agree with ya - Fair City.

Veem™ =]
Orla C is right Fr. Ted is a channel 4 production, they wouldn't show it on RTE to start with as they thought it would be too offensive or something like that lol

Best: The Panel

Worst: Fair City

:D

Best: If the question was just asking my favourite Irish tv programme, I would say Father Ted. But since it's asking for Irish produced, I don't think I can include it...? So I'll say Reeling in the Years instead.

Worst: Wouldn't even know where to start. Someone else mentioned The Box though and i think I'd have to agree that that was definately one of the worst

And to person above: Fáilte Towers was Irish. Count yourself lucky that you don''t have a clue what we're on about

!TreeHugger!
Best: Bosco(I used to watch it when I was a kid)
Reeling In The Years
Other Voices('mon the Kingdom!!)
Ros na RĂşn
Worst: Fair City.....I feel embarrassed watching it.....
The Late Late show with Pat Kenny.....
You're A Star, all the judges trying to be like Simon Cowell and whatnot.....
Most Irish-produced reality shows,realli.....

Everyone is picking new shows so i'm going to mix it up a bit

Worst: Upwardly mobile, The Box with Keith Duffy , Lyrics board, Brendan o carroll's hot milk and pepper, Langerland.tv, the brendan courtney show on tv3, Delegation

Best: Anonymous, I Dare ya,The modest adventures of David o'doherty, Prosperity (esp the episode with the 2 scumbags 1 was called GGGGavin)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Father Ted a Channel 4 production, and not Irish at all? And The Panel is indeed great - Andrew Maxwell cracks me up.

Don't forget Wanderly Wagon as one of the worst.

The Nine Lives of Laura Gonzales
Rating
Best: Old school Late Late Show, The Panel, A Scare at Bedtime, Old school Den (Zig and Zag ftw),

Worst: Anything with the word "celebrity" in the title (the Irish shows are even worse than the British or American ones) You're a Star, New Late Late Show, Fair City, The Afternoon Show, Ireland AM... I could go on.

Oh Uncle Gaybo, how I miss you. =[

edit: froggequene, I can't believe I forgot about The Blizard of Odd! It freaking was amazing.

froggequene
Father Ted, ironically enough, is not an Irish programme

Best Programmes: A Scare at Bedtime, Paths to Freedom, The Blizzard of Odd, Don't Feed the Gondolas, Other Voices when Glen Hansard was presenting

It's not the worst thing I've ever seen but Tubridy Tonight really irritates me, I never took to the Late, Late after Pat Kenny took over

well the best is father ted and the worse in my opinion is podge and rodge - its so gross and vulgar and aims always for the cheap laugh based on innuendo and inane repetition

oh i forgot about Rasher in that spoof documentary - it was on ages ago - he was in the joy and then he was released think actor is called michael mcelhone think it was called Pathways to freedom but i could be wrong........

Soul Jacker
Best: The Den, How low can you go, Apres Match was pretty good, the last broadcast, Make and Do, 2 phat

Worst: The Afternoon Show, Bosco, the angelus, a prayer at bedtime

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge

Just a word about Father Ted. RTE were NEVER offered Father Ted. It's an urban myth that they turned it down. Graham Linehan and Arthur Mathews pitched the idea to Channel 4 originally.

Best Programmes: Anything Goes (for those of you in your 30s) , Murphy's Micro Quiz-M (for those of you in your 30s), The Live Mike (for those of you in your 30s), Murphy's America (for those of you in your 30s), The Late Late Show (when Uncle Gaybo used to do it), Bachelors Walk.

Worst Programmes: Where do we start? Stew, The Cassidy's, Rapid Roulette, anything that Gerry Ryan's ever done on TV, The Late Late Show (with Pat Kenny), anything with Derek Davis, You're A Star, Lyrics Board etc. etc.

blossom18
fr. ted you cant beat that and podge and rodge but the worst has to be fair city like come on what are they trying to do??? the acting in it is soooooooo BAD!!!

dollymix (now geeky for a month)
Best: Gaybos Late Late Show, Reeling in the years, The old The Den with dustin and stuff, the new ones crap, it's not good enough to watch when you're off sick!, The Panel, and I think that that This is Nightlive is quite funny!=]

Worst: Ferim Factor( omg didya ever watch it? They take it really seriously 'it's going to be very hard to pick the winner of feirm factor' it's so bad it's hilarious!' The new Late Late, FAIR CITY! (Fairly shitty) Your a Star, Lyrics Board(you couldn't get Linda Martin to shut up!)

Guaranteed Irish!!!
