I'm not a big fan of cities, Dublin included but trust me there is plenty more to do then drink, go shopping on o'connel street or grafton street, get lunch in the Bailey or go for a picnic in St. Stephens green if its nice, be sure annd see the green, or go for a horse and trap ride from outside the green, visit Merrion Square, go to the pier in Howth, eat some fish from Nicky's fish shop or Wrights on the pier, go to a play or show in the Gaiety/Tivoli/Olympia/Point theatre. Take a viking tour (bit cheesy) see the guiness place, visit Bono's hotel (is it the Clarion or the Clarence, i can never remember) get afternoon tea in the Shelbourne, Got to Flannery's bar for the atmosphere and then into Copper faced Jacks to meet all the gaurds nurses and country people, visit Trinity college or go to the National History Museum. Take a walk through the pheonix park and see the zoo and Aras an Uachtarain.
These are just the things i can think of off the top of my head, there is loads more to do, ENJOY |

Weather is rubbish.
Pubs,Drinks,Pubs,Drinks .......
Avoid rough areas as they are very dangerous.
If you are late night out get ur self a TAXI. Do not walk home if you are not familiar with the area.

Everyone's saying drink, and none of them are considering that there may be other things to do in Dublin ...
Take the DART (suburban train) along the coast all around Dublin Bay, it takes an hour from Bray to Howth and it's really nice. You could get out at Dun Laoghaire for a bracing walk up the pier, it's kind of an institution of a Sunday for the people who live around there.
You could take the open-top hop-on hop-off bus tour around Dublin, it's quite good apparently. It passes the city's most important historical places.
People-watch in St Stephen's Green. Brilliant on a sunny day!
Check out the art at the National Gallery or Irish Museum of Modern Art (housed in the Royal Hospital at Kilmainham).
Visit Trinity College and see the book of Kells. |

Based on my trip to Dublin, it seems that the only things to do there are drink (pubs, pubs, everywhere!) and watch football (soccer) games. I don't do either, so it was an incredibly boring trip, though the landscape was quite beautiful and the people were friendly enough. If you are interested in seeing "sights", the only sight there seemed to be was the Guinness brewery--oh, also Trinity College, which has buildings with some interesting architecture. And "the hotel that Bono owns", which sounds impressive, but is just a small hotel that looks the same as any other. The strange thing we noticed in Dublin is that there don't seem to be any taxis! There's bus service and trains, but no cars for hire to be seen. |
