What are you allowed to take on an international flight?

Is it possible to bring a pocket-knife? Can you bring a cigarette lighter?

You might want to check out this site.

Just use common sense. If you can harm or kill someone with it, then don't take it on the airplane. You might say, what about a frying pan? I could harm and possibly kill someone with it. If you show up to get on a commercial airplane with a frying pan, they will let not you on, because they don't know your intentions.

The pocket knife will have to go in your checked in luggage, dont know about the lighter though as I think it depends on the country I know I had to hand my lighter in when travelling out of boston airport, but not heathrow

If you are in question dont bring it. It is not worth the hassel. Do you really want to chance missing your flight over a Pocket-knife. If you really want to bring something like a pocket knife than put it with your checked baggage.

you can take all of those just not in your handbaggage. it will have to go in your main baggage

one lighter or box of matches, not two and not both... and on the pocket knife jyou will have it confiscated if you try to board a flight with it but probably not if its in the cases you check in

No and no. Check the individual airlines for their limitations.
