Yes I've been told that before, about pretending to be Canadian. I just want people to know that not all Americans are rude..

Youll be grand! haha
theres plenty of tourists here, its not like youll stick out!
if your nice, everyone else will be nice! its the same anywhere!

(one piece of advice.....SOME people might get annoyed if you start telling everyone your "irish" because your great great great great granny was irish.....Im not saying youd do that, just a lot of americans do, and it doesnt go down too well with a few people. )

But honestly, people here are wile friendly, and if you buy a drink they wont let you leave! haha

goodluck

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge
Buy us all a drink!

Orla C
Why do you think you'll need to grovel and crawl to be in good favour with the locals here? You don't really need to. We know that not all Americans are rude, we've all met a few.

I had a friend and he was American.
He was a sound man.

Canadian's are sexy Beasts though.

I am not joking. Man can they dance and so fort.

Shure you be grand. Be yourself and people will like you.
We don't like fake people around these parts.

And be yourself and if you buy us drink we will love you more.

Good Luck

I wouldn't buy a drink for everyone. Like someone said before, keep the volume down and you'll fit in well. Going into a bar and buying everyone a pint may give the impression of an obnoxious American attitude which I'm sure you're not. Oh, and don't say your Irish, say you're American, we rarely hear that.

Well if you're American... sew a Canadian flag to your backpack and pretend you're not from the U.S.

Okay so I don't know how the Irish feel about Americans really... I've just had friends travel to Europe twice and the first time they got yelled at and spit on for being "dirty Americans" but when people thought they were Canadian they didn't have any problems.

But maybe that's just cause Canadians rock.

Okay ignore me how.
