Cork is the second city of Ireland and they tend to be jealous of Dublin- that's why the two fellas from Cork had negative things to say about Dublin. It's a pleasant city with a good atmosphere. Well worth a visit. Got plenty of shops etc but a unique image - unusually for a European capital it contains no sky scrapers.

Galway city in the west is nice too!

In terms of the country I'd recommend Kerry, Clare, Galway county, Mayo or Donegal - Donegal (in north west of country) contains some of the most scenic views in the world.

One of my old teachers travelled the world but he said that the West of Ireland cannot be beaten for scenic beauty, in particular cliff views. The Western province is called Connacht and it is very sparsely populated (except for Galway city and several other large towns).

The Cilffs of Moher are a must see and the sea/cliff views in general in the West, or indeed Donegal, are breathtaking.

Hope that helps

Check out Galway in the west. It's a great place and I say that as a Dubliner!

Galway sounds like your best bet but Ireland is pretty small so you should journey around a bit. Go on a lot of sightseeing tours etc etc

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge
Once you've been to Cork you won't want to go anywhere else.
We like to think of ourselves as different from everybody else. Not that we're arrogant or anything but we could mention Roy, Sonia, Ronan, Sean Óg etc. and people would know who we're talking about from just their first names.
Sher isn't it the Real Capital?

hippo
stay away from the capital, it has nothing you want, you should wikipedia cork and galway. i live in cork and its very good but i think galway would suit you best. my friend owns stables outside limerick?

cork.. nice accent... who are you trying to kid?
