What city is more interesting: Cork or Dublin?

The answer to your main question is DUBLIN is the more INTERESTING. But you have unwittingly opened up a geographic question as you you have not specified if your question relates to the cities or to the counties.

County Cork is the largest county in Ireland and with stunning scenery and people. I can't even start to tell you where to go but suggest you get a car if you can handle stickshift and left side driving.

Dublin city is fascinating but you need a local guide. The county is quite picturesque, from the mountains only miles south of the city to Howth Head. Temple Bar in the centre of town is ok but try to visit Moore Street Market and Mother Redcaps.

Dublin's history goes back to about 850AD and the Viking excavations are amazing.

The Dubs speak the most unusual from of English you will hear outside Jamaica. As a matter of urgency look up the website "overheardindublin" and if you put "gobshite o'byrne" into google you will find the most amazing site on how Dubs interact.

As for Cork city, I love it. It has SEVEN different accents each one more difficult to understand than the others. That makes sense in Ireland but you will not understand what they are saying in Cork. Trust me on this. It took me 20 years and I'm from the next county up the line.

well as i am from kilkenny, i would have to say kilkenny but otherwise 100% cork.
the west side of ireland is very beautiful.

I have travelled throughout the whole of Ireland and it is a truly beautiful place. There's lots to see and do in Dublin but it's a very busy city and there isn't much scenery. Galway is fabulous and a short drive to some great sites. Cork is also good. It's worth finding some of the little gems though - there are some little hidden towns where you can stay in the most gorgeous surroundings with virtually no tourists and some great restaurants and pubs. If you get a chance the Gap of Dunlow is spectacular as is the Ring of Kerry. You need a clear day for both of them though.

Kilkenny!!!!!!!! we have kilkenny castle and done the south east of kilkenny is mooncoin and it has the river suir, which there was a famous song written about and in mooncoin there is a little village which is the oldest village in europe, thats a fact, and then thats near waterford,!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why not go to co. kerry, it is amazing,(thats where i come from) try the dingle penninsula and slea head and go to see fungi the dolphin who has never left since 1985, believe it or not hundreds go out in boats to see him every day, or go swimming with him! great and have fun and have apint of guinness on me!

I would say the area around Cork is prettier than around Dublin. You should definiltey hire a car and try driving to towns like Kinsale, Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Schull - such pretty little towns and the people are amazingly friendly. The scenery is most definitely beautiful - hills so green and the coastline is stunning!
Cork city itself is nice too, but nothing much distinguishes it from most large Irish cities.

Dublin is a great city, but if it's scenery you're after, has to be Galway.

Cork beats Dublin by miles and miles, it is much nicer to look at , has less scangers and much more beautiful surroundings.
The people are nicer too, but you'll need an interpreter to understand them, at least till you get the hang of their accent.
And what do you have against Belfast? It's a culturally vibrant, beautiful place and the natives are not worse than the ones in Dublin.
The other place to go is Galway, and see Conemara from there.
Landscape does not get more beautiful.

Well Cork is a very beautiful city and probably has slightly more green scenary. However Dublin has the history and has many more places to see and visit. I have been to Dublin 3 times and would really reckommened it but then i do like the drinking side of it too.

Cork is really nice, I'd recommend it. Hire a car and drive into West Cork, follow the coast all the way around up to Limerick. It'll take about a week, but it'll be well worth it. An absolute must: The Healy Pass on the Beara Peninsula. Look out for the Australian tourists singing excerpts from the Sound of Music. Yep, it's that inspirational.

You can always take a run over to Galway too. In Cork they moan a lot about Dublin, so you may as well see what they have the chip on their shoulder about.

I'm a Dub through and through, so a visit here is a must! But, going by your question and what you're looking for, I suggest going to Cork.

By the way, anyone who lives outside Dublin or who is not a Dub will never suggest Dublin City!!! Da big scchhhhhhhmoke!
