What do Irish women think of Irish-American men (if you're an Irish woman please click)?

My parents are from Ireland, and I was partially raised in Ireland but I'm American.

I always wanted to marry a woman from Ireland and move back there (I got accepted at universities over there so I will be moving back) but I always think Irish women view American men as loud-mouth cheesy jerks because my cousin visited me from Ireland last year and she flat out told me she hates Americans.... Are most Irish women like this?

Please don't be a smart alec and bring your poltiically correct nonsense into this! Thanks pretty ladies!

PS I'm quiet and shy.

And I know that personality depends more but IN GENERAL how do you women view Irish-American men?

Well my best guy- friend is American, living Ireland so I'm going to base this on him and his brothers.- American guys don't seem to have such a good sense of humour, and are not as funny as Irish guys. Also, they are very over-emotional and not as 'happy-go-lucky' as Irish guys.
However, they are kinder and more respectful.

i hate to tell you this but irish american = american american as far as we're concerned. everyone here is sick of being told about grandparents from some incorrectly pronounced town in the midlands. but on the plus side almost nobody here actually hates americans, you'll have to try harder on your first impression like most foreigners but it won't be an issue to be honest.

I think the biggest problem is that often what is seen as confidence in America is seen as arrogance in Ireland. There is such a big culture of individualism and competition in America that we don't have to the same extent in Ireland where people don't really appreciate people going overboard to stand out from the crowd in a loud way.
Obviously I don't know you as a person so I'm not criticising you! If you are quiet and shy then this won't be a problem for you. Try to have a sense of humour and not be too easily hurt (Irish people can be a tad sarcastic but it's not meant in a bad way usually)
Hope this helps. :)

Mhaith
We just think you're a feckin yank, because that's what ya are. I don't hate yanks, but the ones who think they're really Irish are fairly irritating.

Flying mop dog
Generally speaking I'm not a fan but I have known some Americans who were great.

Like a Fox
I don't really think about american men to be honest..i suppose if you're a decent person then people here will get on with you. Anyway it's not like there's a shortage of women here so you're bound to find one at least that's interested.

You've asked this before a number of times, look the only way you'll find out is when you actually attend college here. One person's opinion isn't everyones.

M'haith is right. They think you're a delusional American who wishes he was Irish, or what they call "a plastic Paddy".

Well I would view them as American, not Irish.
And I have met a few, all seemed like nice guys, although it takes them a while to get used to our brand of humor, they think we are insulting them all the time.

All in all they are just as likely to annoy us as Irish men are, but ya they are ok.

But ya really have to stop sayin your Irish American, you'll end up really annoying people with that crap

Capt Blackie
I don't care how long I live in the U.S., they will always think of me as a Brit. Same thing goes both ways. They'll never think of you as Irish, just as a Yank who moved there from the U.S.

Shure I had an American flatmate from Collage and he was one of the nicest guys ever. But we did not date. (I would never do that to a friend again, Lol)

Anyway, just be yourself and you will be fine.

Shure as long as you are nice you will meet nice people.

“It is nice to be important but more important to be niceâ€

You do not choose the nationality of the persons you are drawn too. They choose you.

But I find you will be drawn to people who are like you in values and looks. But also challenge what you say.

Of course where they come from has nothing to do with it. If you get on with a person, you get on with a person. You may indeed be drawn to Irish people.
Or any other country for that matter.

You should be grand kid. Just be confident within yourself and you can never be alone. Do not change who you are for anybody. Just get smarter about things.

Good Luck in searching for your women.

gaspipe
i dunno just like irish men with a different accent!
