Two form of Irish Teenager have been identified:

1. The type that stands outside the spar or centra, shivering in too few clothes, asking you to buy fags or beer for him and his buddies, quickly to announce that you're a prick when you ignore them.

2. The future hope of Ireland types. They're into music, sport, socialising with friends, playing music, they're generally 100% sound and a lot cooler than we were in the 80s if we're honest.

Yup David D has hit the nail on the head. Teenagers from different areas do different things, there are several classifications
1 - Chav
Can be spotted wearing the latest sports gear ranging from Kappa to Le Croc, throw in some bling, baseball caps and some gobby friends for good measure! These guys tend to hang around smoking cigs, wreaking of Lynx/Impulse and can usually be heard before they can be seen. Drinking in fields, giving people evils, snogging in doorways, cinema and city center on Saturdays are their hobbies.

2 - Pikey
Similar to a chav but usually wearing more rings, sovereigns, and general cheap gold. They normally steal everything (except lynx/Impulse hence having a more distinct aroma. Drinking in fields and selling anything door to door as well as pilfering whatever/whenever would be popular with this lot.

3 - Emo
Sometimes compared to the goths/cureheads of yore. These are the teenagers with the spiky, layered hair and heavy eye make-up. Usually they will also have spikes, crosses and punky accessories. Their hobbies will be everything and anything from writing short-stories and poetry about their feelings to skateboarding to playing instruments as diverse as the lute to the more common guitar! These kids are smart! Big into music and technology!

4 - Preppy
These are the rugger kids, collars up roysh, drinking frappamochaccinos from the womb, eating pannini's and ciabatta bread since their conception and called names like Nathaniel, Fiachra and Fintan. They hang around BT's, and all the classy shops in town wearing their dubes and chinos, chattering to their mom's on their iPhones probably demanding more money!

5 - Culchies
These are the kids who live in the middle of nowhere, they usually wear O'Neills tracksuit bottoms, and their countys GAA jersey! Their hobbies include watching all the music channels on the skybox, tormenting the bejeebus out of the neighbours lifestock and seeing who can get the pick of the local lassies by scoring the most points in the hurling match of a Sunday.

There are different types. Some drink and smoke while others do more legal stuff and less knackery!

I totally agree with the guy above me!

watch tv

Rory M
Drink, smoke, listen to music,Hurling/Football (Although I dislike the GAA because I'm crap)

David d has it down to a T, I've stood outside spar (not asking for people to buy me anything though)

I also play an instrument so the line can be blurred.

♥Mommy to Raynah and Ryland♥
I used to live in Ireland when I was a teen, the kids stole cars and burnt them out in fields! Everyday there was a new smoldering vehicle outside. They also drank alot and smoke. There isn't much for the teens to do..its sad...and they wonder why they run a muck!!!

There are different classes of ppl with different family background.

In the good and wealthy areas they prefer to spend their time for sports, music, other facilities...
In the bad areas, under age sex and drink, stealing cars, beating up foreigners, bullying...
Of course there are exceptions everywhere. I met nice people in a filthy area and foul mouthed people in an place where you couldn't expect it.

However another survey shows Ireland the most aggressive teenagers in Eu and the highest levels of teenage pregnancy and underage sex. But you still choose the ppl.

most irish teenagers are really into forms of culture IE music and sport...there's always a match to go to and most irish teens will either sing or play an instrument. there's feroige, which is an association of youth clubs around the country.
