I'm sure the Irish people will be thrilled to see people see them as drunks!!!!! Nice to see racism is alive and well on YA

Princess Paradox
I'm biased on this one because my dad's Irish and my mum's English so I get a nice balanced view. I generally prefer my Irish family, they're generally more intelligent and more fun.
I tend to think that Irish people are more easy going and friendly than English. The education system over there is better as well so they tend to be more intelligent and better educated.
However, there is that issue of the terrible amount of suicides in rural areas in Ireland, I think young people get really bored and miserable in these areas, but I think that happens in rural areas in modern times all over the world

Some of my best friends are Irish, and when I have been over there people have almost always been very friendly and welcoming.
Ireland itself is great, for the most part. I love the Giant's Causeway, Kerry has some beautiful parts and I really like Cork. Not so keen on Belfast personally, but that's just my opinion.

Ireland is a beautiful country that i will visit one day! And Irish guys are really cute =)

Greetings from Brazil ^^

That the Irish are 'way cool - have a longer history, a beautiful country, among other things.

First of all of course the irish celebrate St. Pats day in ireland! Christ the ignorance of some people!! It is celebrated in every town in ireland and villages!!! with a parade in every one I can only assume who ever said that is an american

THE IRA HAVE SURRENDERED THEIR WEAPONS!!!!!!! I am so sick of reading about that persons opinions who say they haven't! of course they have there hasnt been any violence from the IRA in years since they said it.
And how dare you say they police the streets of Belfast?? You ignorant British ****** you say that they were bad in Belfast???
After the Protestants and British discriminating and murdering hundreds if not thousands of irish catholics? Read a history book twat but not a biased english one.

A historian??? Seriously? that is bullshit. I am beside myself with anger at what you said. How DARE you say that OUR image was ruined by the IRA. You cannot even compare to what your ******** ancestors did to us for hundreds of years. They killed millions of us, sucked the money out of us, left us starving for hundreds of years not giving a ****. And when a TERRORIST organisation drops some bombs in Britain killing a few hundred terrible though it was is completely incomparable. The IRA have absolutely nothing to do with the majority of the people of Ireland and the fact that you even mentioned them shows me how ignorant you really are.

You honestly believe we give a crap what the British think of us or the IRA after them suppressing our country for so long? you Alan M are such a ****-ING DICKFACE.

I LOVE Ireland, and the Irish. I am from Canada, but traveling to Ireland is on my to-do-list! Also, there is nothing sexier than an Irish accent!

I love Ireland. I'm English but my whole family is Irish. As you can tell, my name is Irish.

Ulster is Irish.

Tiocfaidh ár lá!

EDIT : A lot of people, AMERICANS, seem to think Irish culture is about drinking Guiness and wearing green. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. The Irish barely drink! That's Americans whose great-great-great-great grandfather was Irish, so they think that makes THEM Irish, so they make up their own pathetic booze culture and name it Irish.

Beautifully Dazed
i don't seem to have a problem with any of it i hope to one day travel to ireland and from what i've seen there is some pretty sexy men from over there ;)

So Alan M,the English are only sceptical of the Irish since the IRA was formed. Now tell me why do you suppose the IRA was formed?Hundreds of years of tyranny thats why. What kind of historian starts a view of centuries old conflict at the popint when one side started to fight back? And what type of image do you think the Irish have had of the English over the terrorists in uniform that livelived amongst your people?

Lord Voldemort, you make a very good point. The Irish, while friendly can be very clannish.Although if you speak like a real Lord I suspect you would have seen a lot more clannish behaviour than normal.
I also agree with what you say about racism in this country. Its down to ignorance mainly.Just like the attitude some of the English have towards us.

They think they are nice people except their image is badly damaged by the IRA terrorists living among them. As the IRA targeted children and women especially and cared not what religion or country they came from . Now they are sceptical when they meet them and in England the IRA detroyed their good image for ever. Such a pity.

I have lived in Ireland and what I really think... This people are the most clannish I have ever met. Ireland is a dangerously closed country. If you are talking about the Irish who live abroad and the descents they are fantastic lovely people, but the Irish who live in Ireland are more than the racists than the racists.

Ugly T
They are a Celtic people divided along religious lines, with Catholic Christians in the South and Protestants Christians in the small Northern territory. This is ironic because Christianity is Not the native religion of the Celts, it was brought to them by the Romans who invaded neighboring Britain. (Saint Patrick was a Brit) Also, the territory of Northern Ireland, a part of the Protestant United Kingdom (Great Britain) has never been part of a unified Ireland. In ancient times the Northern Territory was part of the Kingdom of Dal Riata which is now part of Scotland (another Celtic nation, name given by Romans). Both Scotland and North Ireland are currently under British rule. If and when Scotland gains it's Independance, as Canada has done, Northern Ireland should vote to go with them and re-establish the Celtic/Pictish Kingdom of Alba. I just think its sad that the island of Eire has Celtic people divided by religion, where both worship the same God, and the religion is one brought to them by an invader.

Help my head's stuck!
They drink a lot
