I like everything, apart from the cities. The cities are all modern and don't look irish, they are like the american cities and just don't look right. The country side though, you can't find any other place in the world that is like it. The rural pubs, the thatch cottages, the green grass, it is just perfect.

Simple - first and foremost the Irish people and their easy going ways.
The fact we welcome people of all colors, beliefs etc...
Our curiosity about new people we meet has always amused visitors.

I don't agree about the cities - Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford have a distinctively Irish feel to them and are not like towns or cities anywhere else I've been to. Dublin feels a bit like London in places, but that's because of the Georgian architecture. And there are very few thatched cottages left in the countryside these days.

I love that there is still an innocence about Ireland and about the people. When they manage to forget about the pursuit of wealth and decking and SUVs they are the loveliest people in the world. Individually, they tend to be curious and welcoming and ready to have the chat and the craic with anyone of any creed, colour or culture. It's only when the tabloid mob mentality creeps in that thing start to go awry, but hopefully that will receed and we can go back to being the land of the thousand welcomes again.
