What do you love most about being being Irish? |
So many of the quetions are well boring so here's a nice happy questions imo. ha
I love the Irish sense of humour. It took a lot of travelling around for me to realise just how unique it is to us.
We can make a laugh out of just about anything and i think thats great
I love that you can have the biggest, most massive arguement ever with someone and then, that very same night, you can have a drink with them and take the piss out of each other.
I love native Irish speakers. I'm studing Irish and i'm scraping my way towards beinf fluent (ha) but i love hearing people just having a chat 'as gaeilge'
What do yas think!? Additional Details I wasn't really looking for 'leprechaun' answers...meh

I love being Irish!
Whenever i go on holidays, whether its to Lanzarote, Bulgaria, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, America or South Africa, i have always been soo welcomed and been bombarded with questions about what its like in Ireland or asked to speak irish. Just things like that.
Irish people have the most amazing sense of humour ever!
I love our language and our culture
I love just the irish land.
We have people all over the world claiming to be part-irish and being proud of it - that must be saying something like.
I just couldn't imagine myself anywhere else. |

I'm here!
Yes, the sense of humour is particular to Ireland, that's true. And the art of taking the piss ..... And the language.
And how many people do you know in Ireland who will sing at the drop of a hat? I know lots like this. I'm one myself.
And what I particularly like about being Irish is that I am almost always welcomed by the locals, wherever I go. |

Oh absolutely our sense of humour and the ability to laugh at ourselves, the banter between friends, our unique ability to make a stranger feel at ease.
Our laid-back attitude about, well, everything and above all how we look out for each other whether we are home in Ireland or abroad.
My youngest (14) got into a fight with his best mate (since he was 7) last week and gave the lad a black eye - the two of them the next day were sitting on our front fence eating chocolate and bantering about how my lad got lucky with his punch.
And of course we have hurling. |

I'm American, but I've visited your country twice, and have been delighted with the time I've spent there. You as Irish people have a great deal to be proud of!
I play Irish harp, and have made a pretty serious study of Irish culture, history and tradition...and that's the textbook stuff. But the practical part, the part that defines your people as far as I'm concerned, is that hospitality really is a part of the Irish mind-set, as surely as it has been for millennia. People do try to take care of each other, and are pretty easygoing with each other.
Equally legendary is the Irish facility with language...the songs and poems and stories, yes, but also just clever turns of phrase in ordinary conversation. I find the Irish people to be a bit more reserved at first than Americans, but once you start talking a bit, it's very easy to chat at great length. Agus is maith liom an teanga Gaeilge! |
