It's been a long time since I've stayed there properly. Last time I went, I stayed in Greencastle. I can't remember much...I guess I couldn't complain. Maybe one day I'll go back? I passed through it last summer...all I did was buy chocolate from a shop though! LOL

Voici un morceau d'une réponse faite il y a peu de temps au sujet d'une question sur l'Irlande :
Pour ma part, la visite de cette île s'est concentrée sur le Nord-Ouest, dans le comté du Donegal. Le tourisme n'était pas développé dans cette très belle région sauvage ce qui fait que les contacts avec les Irlandais étaient, de leur part, basés sur la curiosité et la gentillesse.
Les plages du Nord-Ouest sont vastes, faites de sable blanc et... désertes !
Les couleurs de la mer, du sable, de l'herbe, du ciel, ainsi que celles des petites maisons éparpillées ici ou là , sont un bonheur pour qui sait les apprivoiser (dessin, peinture, photos... souvenirs !).
Coté météo, il est préférable de se déplacer un maximum en bord de mer, car, poussés par le vent du large, les nuages se déplacent et arrosent plus souvent les terres que la côte. Il est commun de se déplacer, ainsi,au sec, et de s'apercevoir qu'à deux ou trois km à l'intérieur des terres, le temps est à la pluie !
La vie est chère, certes, mais chère par rapport à quoi ?
Si l'on compare cette partie de l'Irlande avec, disons... la Bretagne, des produits tels que la viande seront élevés, alors que d'autres de type artisanal ne le seront pas.
A l'inverse, une soirée au pub ne vous coutera rien par rapport à une soirée en France, avec, qui plus est, de la musique "live" offerte, c'est à dire gratuitement, tous les jours. Ajouter à cela un accueil fabuleux et une ambiance festive endiablée... et vous verrez que ce n'est pas chère.
Une chose m'intrigue cependant : avec un taux de chômage élevé, notamment chez les jeunes, je n'ai pas bien compris comment les jeunes conducteurs pouvaient se payer de grosses et puissantes voitures neuves (je rappelle que je me trouvais en milieu rural).
La restauration peut être aussi onéreuse que surprenante, mais surtout de très bonne qualité bien que peu variée (mais variée quand même).
Coté logement, un ami m'avait prêté un véritable "cottage" d'époque ! Fabuleuse demeure en bord d'océan.
J'ai gravi toutes les "montagnes" aux alentours de Dunfanaghy et le panorama ainsi découvert était à couper le souffle. La puissance des éléments, notamment le vent, y prenait tout son sens.
Mon seul regret fut de ne pas assez bien maîtriser l'anglais, de façon à approfondir des relations humaines restées un peu superficielles.
L'accent (si telle est la question), notamment avec les "anciens" dans les pubs, était quelque chose de très déstabilisant pour le Français que je suis ! Mais la gentillesse et la malice dans les yeux comblaient cette lacune.
Enormes souvenirs, donc, que ce voyage dans le Donegal.

Im from Wicklow, but my best friends parents are from Donegal...so they have an empty house up there we crash every summer since i was 14 lol
The house is in Inishowen i think.....;)
The nightlife is deadly there though...only place i remember (HA) is Milan

omg ok.....my friends Dad? he's about 50, kinda fat, balding and just weird in general...
YET, when i was a little younger, i had the biggest crush on him ever...
WTF.....it was the damn accent
