generally it means DO u like but it can mean would you like...'ceard ba mhaith leat??' is used for what would you like. Ar mhaith leat gaeilge?? Is maith liom Gaeilge (i do like irish).

'Would you like' and its not gaelic, its Irish. Gaelic is a very vague term.

Ar mhaith leat means: would you like
while An mhaith leat means: do you like
and the answer is: Is maith liom ( I like ) or Ni maith liom ( I don't like )
and in case you wonder what everyone means when the keep saying its not gaelic ill just explain that too people in Ireland call what you call ''gaelic'' Irish when talking about it in English
or Gaeilge when talking about it in Irish
But don't worry a lot of non-Irish people make the same mistake and now you can help them.
Hope this helped

Why When How
"would you like"
and please please don't call it Gaelic. Irish is a Gaelic language. In much the same way that English is a Germanic language and yet you don't call English, Germanic
D's answer sums it up nicley I think.
