What does craic mean?

Pardon my ignorance, I was just reading the ask and answer from Ireland and wondered what it meant. I'm from Wooster Ohio and would love to visit Ireland some day.

Irish word for fun/enjoyment that has been brought into the English language. usu. when mixed with alcohol and/or music.
'Bhi craic agus ceol againn' : We had fun and music.
Fun doesn't really cut it though. General banter, good times had by all.
Also, a person who is good fun/great company.
It was great craic.
She's great craic when she gets going.
He's great craic when he has a few pints on him.
What's the craic?
How's the craic?
The craic was mighty.

Aye. Right!
'The craic' is 'a laugh', 'an enjoyable time', 'fun'. It is pronounced 'crack', so good on you for spelling it correctly!

It is also used as a greeting, 'How's the craic?', or 'What's the craic', which is just a casual 'How you doing? Is everything cool with you?' or 'how's you? got any gossip?' kind of thing.

Sure it's only a way of expressing yourself when you are having fun. There is a great opening line in the brilliant ballad.. " Mc Alpines Fusiliers " it goes ..." The craic was good in Cricklewood and they wouldn't leave the Crown " there was glasses flying and biddies crying, the paddies were on the town. "

having a laugh, having fun, etc. You can also say whats the craic? That's like saying well whats up with ya.

Apparently it's an old Norman word meaning 'fun' or 'enjoyment'. You pronounce it as 'crack'.

Don't make the mistake I did of saying 'There'll be great craic at that party tonight!' when in New York. I suddenly had all kinds of twitchy new friends!

It basically means fun. Sure we had great craic altogether last night! You might see craic agus ceoil in some pubs which means fun and music. What's the craic? <is something like what's up? or any fun?

a laugh ,fun ,mighty craic,

mountjulietgolf
It can mean a lot of things;
- Having a good time
- Enjoying a beer with friends
- Listening to live music with a few drinks
- Having a laugh / enjoying a joke

Basically if you are in Ireland and somebody says an event will be "Good Craic" then this will be an enjoyable event.

Craic has nothing to do with references to other meanings / spellings of the word

Craic is slang for having a good time - "We had great craic at the game last night,"

It means drugs darling and if you know what's good for ya, you'll keep away from all that sort of stuff.
Sher Rodge is a fierce man altogether for the craic pipe, our lives are broken from it.......
