Additional Details They sure do drink more, but my criterion is rugby.
At Croke Park, in Dublin, when the visitors are taking a place kick at goal, you can hear a pin drop. Not so at Twickenham, unfortunately.

No one is superior to anyone, there are nice and nasty in all countries, this is 2009 and the majority of us just want to live our lives and not participate in this stupid rivalry.
Renzo, the British do not have Ulster. Ulster is a province, three counties of which are part of the Republic of Ireland.
Are you referring to Northern Ireland? If so, you are still incorrect, the British do not 'have' Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is one of the four constituent countries of the UK and is NOT owned by anyone. I think it was kind of pointless telling us that you were American as we could have guessed that. |

we won the grand slam..... making us better!!
and it's not well known, but this college lecturer who knows ireland's history perfectly, told me that ireland took complete control of scotland before england fought back, killing their culture completely, and that the scottish language and culture has irish roots!!! |

-Your just trying to stir up trouble is all-Im irish and i dont think im superior to english people..if they respect me ill respect them back...There are some english that think they are superior to the irish though thats for sure and just dont like the irish -Likewise there are irish that hate english due to the conflict many years ago but most of us try and get on with things- il judge an english person on personality not nationality like i do with anyone...But obviously if they slag off the irish and badmouth the irish - i wont listen to it .Im a proud irishman :) i think there are a lot more racists in england though...and to be honest i think the irish are far more well liked :) but i dont think im superior- im just giving a perception of what people in america have told me and other countries |

One day a year every ones an Irish man ST.PATs but not so with ST.GEORGE but to answer the question perhaps because the have had greater success as a nation with rugby than with other team sports. |

Renzo wtf, english people are strong, assuming you mean all? dude, they dont come off a fking production line.
wtf, they say "a british person has won". Who? what do you do in life that you so commonly hear the phrase "a british person has won". That sentence would be said at something life the olympics since its team GB not the individual countries that make up Great Britain.
Anyway what ever nationality you are question asker, its a bull$hit question, leading to arrogant people from both countries bigging up there own race. Both sets of people are fine with the exception to a few nobs which each country has, england has a bigger population, so they are bound to have more nobs, which im sure alot of people will express in this question |

If it's just rugby that you are asking about...more Irish players in the Lions squad. We've beaten England 5 times in the last six years AND their resources are about 20 times what we have. And they still screw it up...thank god. |

This is such a silly question. Obviously the Irish are going to say the Irish are better and the English are going to say the English are better. I don't know where Reno got that cr*p from. I should be somewhere else kinda answered that. They don't 'have' Northern Ireland (not Ulster). Plus being generous? If the person is British, then why not say a win for Britain? We can't say that because we are not part of Britain so we have to say Ireland! Plus I can't remember when it was, but when Padraig Harrington won a golf championship thing, the commentator said 'another win for Britain!', noticing that he was wrong, the other commentator corrected him sayin 'British Isles'. I know that was slightly pointless, but I jut thought I would say it.
I made cake. Who wants any?! :) |

There aren't any such grounds at all, but please do remember that England has had some major economic advantages over Ireland, and social advantages as well .... but yes, Irish do tend to be friendlier.
I love rugby. From the neck down .... big muscly men in tiny little shorts, what's not to like.
Only I think you mean something different .... England has great players, and where I live in Ireland, Munster, rugby is greatly respected.
I don't think that Irish people drink more than English people, I just think that Irish people are better at holding their drink. |

Well, We dont think were "supierior" as such, just certain traditions and customs we prefer.
(1) We say "hows it goin?" even tho ur a stranger, I tried that in England and nearly got locked up for being weird.
(2) There is no segregation or trouble, ever! in our national Gaelic games! While English soccer supporters have to be segregated incase they all kill each other.
(3) Our exports include Guinness, Magners, Jamesons, Harp, TullamoreDew, Smithwicks, Cafferys, Bass, Paddy, John Powers and Bushmills, (see the trait?) English exports include Rolls Royce, Austin Martin, and Bentley, very nice, but do u have any one of them???
(4) Ronan O'Gara & the 6 Nations Grandslam!
Heres 4 anyway, England may have a few good comebacks to that, but only in a posher accent!

I don't think Irish people regard themselves as superior to English, and we have gone all over the world without wanting to conquer. Australia, Canada, India, Ireland and countless other places were grabbed (at the time) on behalf of King and Country and the natives dispossessed and treated shamefully. And within my memory, there was the Falklands War to retain lands grabbed from Argentina. We Irish haven't done any of that.
With regard to rugby, modern technology is a blessing. Now we can all see exactly where the ball has touched down, and who did what. It doesn't necessarily make one side superior to the other, but it does allow for superior reporting. |

Don't know but being unbiased (I'm American) ... I can assure you that the English are far stronger than the Irish. The Irish have their country but not the whole island because the British are in Ulster. The English have conquered Scotland, Wales and Ulster as well as a lot of islands all around the World.
They are really strong.
Also... the English are not self-centered (selfish) people... when an Englishman achieves anything... any prize... any international recognition, they don't say "An Englishman has won...." they are generous and say "A British has won..." (including Scotland and Wales) |
