Oh Ruairi - good luck with the vegetarianism in Ireland. I was there for a year and I had to give up! The good thing is it's easy to get local meat =)

You'd be surprised at how few Irish drink according to American myths. I am a social drinker, take a couple of glasses of wine or the occasional beer, but I refuse to drink Guinness as I think it's disgusting.

You might find it hard to get dope, though - if this is high on your agenda, you might be as well to move to the Netherlands instead. Vegetarian food is now easy to get in Ireland.

you'll be fine! We can't wait to meet you

Podge and Rodge Tribute Band
Word of advice, sonny: We drink out of pint glasses here in Ireland; not those cissy glasses you see in Neighbours and Home and Away.

I've lived in Australia, and I think we Irish drink way less than the Aussies! We tend to binge drink a lot more, but you don't find alcohol at so many events and places, and there aren't any drive through bottle shops (one of the funniest, and scariest ideas I've ever heard of!) You'll find vegetarian options on most menus - mightn't be the greatest stuff, but it's definitely improving.
