Shannon Airport because its less hassle than dublin and is nearer to the nicer places in Ireland like Clare, Galway & Limerick.

The biggest airport is Dublin airport just north of Dublin.
It may be the best but its an unfair comparison to the other airports.

They are smaller and serve less passengers but are well run and just as important.

Shannon (the nearest international airport to USA in Europe) was a fine airport until strange people with strange powers shut down all its direct flights to and from USA last year.

Now, you must queue for up to three hours (and that's just to park your car!) at Dublin Airport on the east coast - one of Europe's busiest, badly-located, congested airports.

Dublin would be the biggest and probably 'main' airport, located north of Dublin on the east coast. There're also Knock, Shannon, and Cork in other parts of the country, which are smaller, but still fine airports.

Northern Ireland has a couple worth checking out around Belfast, the biggest and best serviced being Belfast International (BFS), then Belfast City (BHD). Buses run from Belfast city centre to Dublin and other places around the island, with about a 2.5 hr trip to Dublin. Remember that Northern Ireland, though, is legally part of the UK, so if you need a visa to travel in the UK or Rep. of Ireland, you'd get a UK visa if you entered Northern Ireland from abroad. EU or EEA citizens should have no issues. I've also seen a lot of Americans or Commonwealth nationals enter the UK on tourist visas and spend some time in Ireland with no problem, since they can usually get tourist visas for either country upon entry without any problem. There are 3 international airports in Ireland.
Dublin serves the east coast
Shannon serves the south and west coast
Belfast in the north of Ireland, though Belfast is in the UK.
There is also a number of regional airports at Cork, Galway and Knock.

the best onw eould would be Dublin International Airport

its located about 10km from dublin city centre beside the M1 (which connects to belfast) and the M50 (which connects to all the other motorways the leave dublin (M2, M3, M4, M7(M8/M9) and the M11))

Depends on where you want to travel to. I prefer to travel from Shannon or Cork simply because I don't have to drive too far and I don't have to park too far away from the airport, and I don't have to pay too much for the parking.
