Dublin 4 is your equivalent of a 'zip code'.
Some countries think the whole world is run their way and do not make allowances for the big wide world outside their borders.

If a site insists on a 'zip' code - buy elsewhere and send them an email pointing out the world is bigger than their country.

The ZIP code is the system of postal codes used by the United States Postal Service.

It is the US equivilant of the UK Post Code.

Basically, postal codes are a series of letters and/or digits added to a postal address for the purpose of sorting mail.

Ireland will be introducing postal codes in 2008. Post codes cover small regions, so that the post office can sort mail easier.

In the U.S., as others have stated, it is a five digit number (plus a four digit number separated from the five digit number by a dash), used to speed the delivery of mail to a certain area. What others have failed to tell you, though, and it is not common knowledge, is that ZIP stands for Zoning Improvement Plan.

a zip code is just like a post code. Zip codes are used in america and the uk also (I think). But we use post codes as in you live in d.4

Like others have said it's simply the postal code system used in the US. You can give your ZIP code as 'Dublin 4'.

It is a postcode nothing more nothing less.
