Ireland was traditionally know as a devoutly Catholic country and played a significant role in the early church in Northern europe. Especially the re-introduction of christianity into England in the later saxon period (some argue that Ireland saved christianity).
Ireland was christianised towards the end of the 5th century A.D., Unlike most of western Europe, Ireland had not been part of the Roman empire (that helped the spread of christianity elsewhere). Following the fall of the empire, britain became pagan again. And it was Ireland that started the re-conversion of England.
St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland, (however there are records of a Bishop Palladius predating patrick), and is credited with bringing christianity to Ireland. |

Ireland is known for literature and music - 4 irish writers have won the nobel prize for literature and theres plenty of others who are very highly regarded such as joyce, swift, stoker etc..
Ireland is also well known for being very welcoming and friendly and for having beautiful scenery.
@someone91 - please take your bigoted nonsense elsewhere |

I should be doing something else

Ireland is known for being a lush green country (hence the name Emerald Isle) due to our climate.
Ireland is famous for literature, for example Oscar Wilde, Yeats, Bernard Shaw, James Joyce and Seamus Heaney.
Cuisine - Irish Stew, Colcannon, Potato Farls, Soda bread, Boxty and some of the best seafood in the world.
Ireland is also well known for Guinness and fine Whiskies, but please ignore the narrow minded comment above.
Rich History.
Friendliness.
Mythology and Folklore. |

The Irish are famous for their absessive alcohol consumption, their neo-conservative views such as a ban on abortion, their inability to say 'th' resulting in Three sounding like 'Tree', they are known for being the only English speaking country to send Germany a telegram expressing sympathy for the death of Hitler, they are known for a Potato Famine which killed half of them, they are known for openly supporting terrorists (the IRA) and killing over 3500 British Citizens in Britain in their campaign of Terror.
Any thing else you need?

Bigotry?
Those are clear fact's aren't they?
At what point did I racially discriminate against the Irish?
It's not bigoted to talk about some facts which the Irish would rather not shout from the rafters about. |
