We have a tendency to begrudge a little too much. if you do well in Ireland there will always be a significant number of people who will not like you for it.

That and the 1950s idealised image of life in Ireland which for some reason is alive and well in the States.

I don't want to be completely negative so I'll add this. It's pretty hard to offend us and we don't really take ourselves too seriously, this is what I love about Ireland!

The way that people vote for politicans because 'they're grand fellas' or because of a dirty little civil war nearly a century ago, rather than on the basis of any coherent policies or intellectual honesty, and then moan when those same politicians go on to 'run' the country with complete incompetence and shortsightedness.

(ANS) The deep divisions between Catholics & Protestants. I wish people would let the past history go and finally join the 21st century. I love Irish people but the conflict & tribalism I don't. Its so sad, its heart braking.

I dont like the Irish when they give out alot about the weather and expensive. I have live in different countries and i can say the weather there are worst than in Ireland and is very expensive.
Hopely the Irish would realize that they dont get typhoons,hurricane, earthquakes,volcanoes,snow,storm etc.
You get rain but its not the whole day unlike other countries- raining all day! Cold but you can always get a cheap sun holiday!
